I was this close ---><--- to buying one of these after seeing that the launch module is real, once you deliver it next week in working order. Just to thank you for finally giving us the ability to run private matches.
Who is running your marketing team, Billy May's ghost?!
If you deliver LM in working order tuesday and there are any of these packs left, I will flip a coin on it. Try harder, marketing isn't rocket surgery.

I dare to say the "Paint" is fixed to the Variant, so, no matter how you interchange parts, it will allways be a gold mech, and others, will simply have the basic look, even when equipping parts of the gold mech.
Why would i think so?
Because paint/cammo is fixed, you cant mix and match those either.

Love the feedback and am happy you love the games. I love the games as well.
In the interests of providing a different point of view I'll say that I've already contributed over $300 because I too love the MechWarrior games and wanted to see a new/updated entry in the series.
That contribution included founders, phoenix and saber packages (plus more). It does not include any of the Clan packages. These previous contributions were based on my desire to see another MechWarrior game and a willingness to support PGI/IGP on the vision they laid out.
After nearly 2 years I'm not overly impressed with the progress made on the game. Not saying what is there isn't fun, but the progress towards that vision to me as a potential "investor" is not impressive. I'll not be purchasing content sight unseen any more until I see much more significant execution on the vision I originally decided to fund. Still love the MechWarrior franchise, still hope to see it succeed.
For me it's not an issue of "investing" in MechWarrior so much as an issue "investing" in PGI/IGP and their ability to execute. They got a couple rounds of funding from me. They now have to execute and earn the trust of this "investor" going forward that was originally given to them based on my fondness for MechWarrior and approval of a vision for the game they laid out.
This is just a different opinion. I hope the game succeeds and I hope to one day contribute again. PGI/IGP will have to earn that trust now instead of getting it on "blind faith".
PGI hates the idea that people who bought the various packs are in reality investors and stakeholders.

People keep approaching this as "I'm buying a commodity and this product is outrageously priced" when I think the real purpose of these gold mech packages existing is much more along the purpose of being a self-run Kickstarter style funding program. People who buy these packages are helping to keep the company moving forward and provide new content that they would love to see come to fruition. The golden mech is not a commodity, it is a perk for those who are willing and able to help support the company by "donating" to the cause.
- Will I be getting one? No, I unfortunately do not have that kind of money to donate at this time.
- Are people who do buy these crazy or daft? No, they are fortunate enough to have the necessary money and are willing to support a game company that is providing niche game that so many of us love from our childhoods.
*Note: This post is not a debate on if we feel PGI is using this money wisely or developing the game in the way you feel is best, merely my opinion on the true nature of these packages and the individuals who are able to purchase them. If you don't like the deals, its very simple, don't spend the money. But don't grief people who do, its because of them that we still have a game to play.

Why? Please tell me why charging $260 for a gold skin is a smack in the face. IT'S NOT FOR EVERYONE. It's basically for people to throw in some money to further support PGI, NOTHING ELSE. Did you really want that gold skin and are now pissed off because it's out of your reach? Get over it.
Yeah I agree. What people do with their money is their business.

I'm reading Lethal Heritage right now and some Clan commanders are bidding against each other to their Khan, who can take a planet with the least amount of equipment and resources.

So why all the hate and the envy?! If someone is willing to spend so much money on it to support the game you should be happy so we can play and benefit from further improvements.

Revenue alone is not a good indicator of a companies wealth and profitability. We have no insight into their overhead or net margin dollars. We also don't know if Mechwarrior online is even their sole project right now and if it isn't, how much of their spendable budget is allocated to this project.
From the wiki page, past and current projects of PGI:
Bass Pro Shops: The Strike (Xbox 360, Wii, Windows)
Duke Nukem Forever (Windows, Xbox 360, PS3)
MechWarrior Online (Windows)
Die Hard: Nakatomi Plaza (Windows)
EA Playground (Nintendo DS)
Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 (PSP)
Need For Speed: Undercover (PSP)
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (Windows, Xbox 360, PS3)
Bass Pro Shops: The Hunt (Xbox 360, Wii, PC)

I don't see it as hate or envy: but a cautionary advice for those who can't afford it yet believe their manhood is in question if they don't buy it: a Fool and His Money... yada yada yada
but in Respect to the deployment and marketing it reeks of predatory marketing and money grabbing by the publishing company, not so much the development company
And in some regards it really does insult our very intelligence as a community, just my humble opinion

No. There are enough maps now. Even though there was a promise of a Desert map, I would not mind if it and other maps were skipped so they could focus on other things. Like which old Mech next gets the ability to change appearance of weapons.
