still it is a founders atlas. the name it self is important not a remake pattern or colour.. Ppl would laugh at you if you would paint ya timberwolf gold.

Is it because it would look tacky? The gold I mean? ;-)

I think people would laugh because they'd think I spent 500$ on it

Also I don't see an actual founders or Phoenix badge below you're name, sooo

The reason why ppl buy expensive clothes or cars is because they want to feel special... They do want to have something rare. Its pretty common. And no one is laughing about some one who bought a xy jeans for 700 €

Except if the company happens to go out of business for some reason you still have you're jeans back home.
If this game fails because they get too focused on selling mechs instead of developing stuff they promised since the founding, than you're vanity items are gone, u can't even print the 3D model if u had a printer back home because of copyright.

I'm not complaining about vanity items and the cost attached to them.
But at some point you have to vote with you're wallet as a customer.
That's what PGI is having they're eyes on, you're wallet. If it stays closed for a change than they might actually do something.

All the alpha slots are gone

Wait you can still join now if you wanna, just pay
You can also join in Beta, just pay
Bla bla bla, yes that seems so familiar :-)

Frankly I wanted to

I bought a smaller clan pack to get the early bonuses and wanted to see where things are going

They're going no where good or way too slow, so no, also founders and Phoenix got extended on the time to buy them

still couldnt understand the rage on golden mechs. Is it because you do think that pgi doesnt care about the content they have promised but selling mechs and trying to grind more and more money?

On a side note
No one forced me to comission the signature I have
It's a vanity item as well, and I love it
I paid money for something and I got what I wanted in return.

Extending it to MWO, I paid money for a lot more than just team death match.
Golden mechs are just the pinnacle of what's wrong with PGI
promises first, content soon, maybe
maybe never, things changed quite a lot over time, believe me

Cockpit glass was supposed to be more than just dirt on you're screen

I'm not angry about the gold skins

I'm angry that development of main features is still not going any where
So tell me what are warhorns?
After all that time no info yet?

I don't mind PGI making money
But believe me, if I made promises with a track record of not holding them like PGI has, I'd be out of a job, friends and family after the time PGI took to do stuff

The best would be if you could put a gold pelvis on it, make it look like it's wearing gold underwear.

Seriously though, this entire idea seems so ridiculous. Fist off, it's totally "un-clan" who are supposed to pseudo-soviet in terms of their behavior/sensibilities.

They would use the right camo for the right terrain. They don't go individual in the way their mechs look (color) they are supposed to be super warriors sure, and they get pretty arrogant sure, but a gold mech is something a pirate or merc leader would do, not a clan warrior.

This is a money grab with PGI taking advantage of their greatest fans who think they're helping the future of MWO.

If PGI wants to help the future of MWO, then make the game better.Even if they want to call it "giving the fans what they want"

Seriously, this is such a ridiculous money grab it's almost obscene.

Gold pelvis. Pseudo-soviet. You win, sir! Excellent.

No it's not

each gold mech cost $260

If so then show everyone where you can buy just a gold mech for $260. You can't because it's $500 for a gold mech with the Masakari pack thrown in. Cut it anyway you like, if you want the gold mech it's $500 and another $500 for 2.

To be frank
The people working at PGI probably do what they can to make things work, and the art teams is rather good
The mechs look good too, and the actual combat is still fun. If the MM is not out to get you.

But I don't think you can keep the lights on just by releasing a limited mech pack after another.
That's the third one.
Than u have heros, and champions
You see so many of them ingame. Not counting the trial mechs of course.
Now is that because nearly every player has one, all several million players?
Or is the player base just so small, or dwindling because there is nothing beside the same game play more or less for so long.
There are many major titles out there, while PGI's boss seems to have lost track of why this game is so unique.

Fellas fellas....as much as I tend to agree that purchasing Gold Mech packages for $500 is out of the question for me personally, I tend to agree with the logic that if we don't want to buy them, we should pay it no mind and move on to things we will spend money for as they become available. The smart move on their part now would be to drop the package price to at the most $300 and refund the difference to previous buyers who have already purchased via MC, premium time, standard/champion/hero IS mech packages or flat out cash refunds. The reason I say this is because if you look at other FTP/PTW game models, I've seen packages go for 10X more than the current offering from PGI, but give player a hell of a lot more in return also as a result. They've pretty much localized crowdfunding to their desired niche without having to compete with other financial responsibilities unrelated or gamble on those outside the fold who don't understand the value of said goods. MWO has a dedicated base regardless of the constant whining we do, we still log on and play. We literally are accepting a fantasy aspect of 31st century combat completely: our walking tanks lumber along at an avg of 70kph collectively for a company of 12 and not one single infantryman with a handheld Inferno SRM launcher, Clan Elemental, Aerospace fighter support, or Dropship defense platform...none of this...yet they want to sell "Gold Mech" packages. I think a move like that would be deserved once everything is well rounded, but to field it as a test of loyalty is a stretch right now....a long stretch...and after I finished all my bookkeeping for the US tax payment deadline and saw I spent nearly $500USD in 2013 for an unfinished game, IT'S STILL AN INSULT TO HAVE THAT TEXT ON THE GOLD PACKAGE PROMO SO TAKE IT THE H#LL DOWN. If you don't like it, just don't buy it, but it would seem to make more sense for them to sell low to get people in and talking positively NOW than having them remark the gall and nerve of past moves later. It's about us enjoying and becoming enamored in the experience that leads to making that dollar primary for PGI. Seems they might be ahead of themselves a bit still...

PGI...stop listening to marketing people that don't understand the BT universe, the core mech fan, and reality. You'll still make it across the finish line, but smarter gets you there faster...and richer.

And for how long will it stay "limited"?

Like the EXCLUSIVE flame pattern camo we got in the Phoenix pack? Remember that? But oh wait, it's not really exclusive anymore is it? It's still a paint job, but it applies here. How long will it be before PGI offers that "exclusive" gold paint as a purchasable (for MC naturally) paint color (and "premium" I'm sure)?

But yeah, ZERO info on the items in the package; Warhorn? Nope, can't tell you what it is or what it does. Clan weapons nerfs? Nope, can't tell you how bad these are getting nerfed. Targeting computer? Nope, can't tell you. Extra secret exclusive stuff coming too, but we aren't saying what it is either? We're supposed to buy these clan mechs, knowing they're nerfed to IS mech levels, but yet we have to pay a magnitude of higher rates for these?

And I'm still waiting for my "loyalty points" that I'm supposed to earn with my house medallions from my Phoenix pack. So they haven't delivered on the last "package", which I bought, and I'm supposed to believe them that no, this time, really, this new package is "IT"?

Nope. Like any normal customer, I want to know what I'm buying. Past experience with this business, has taught me to see it, and get details before I buy. And PGI is a business. They are an entertainment business.

I have money to spend, it's not a problem for me to buy the full $240 package. I wouldn't buy the gold mech either way, as it's just stupid, IMO. But past performance and current lack of details equals my money staying in my wallet.

Sorry for the wall of quote.

The fact that gold mechs are just skins speaks to PGI's commitment to F2P which I think is admirable but I also think gold skins are immersion breaking. I see them as a gateway or a stepping stone to other immersion breaking decisions, hopefully not a hint of what's to come. I want the best mechwarrior ever and the foundation is here.

I'm with you. If people want to support the game then why not...
