By definition, hero 'mechs are custom designs, and are not canon. In fact, most of them use engine ratings that would be considered illegal for play in the board game and they also frequently used optimized weapons, armor and ammo over actual stock designs. I believe that single heat sinks are not, hero and champion 'Mechs have an edge over their stock counterparts, which is the whole reason they were released -- a way for new players to have semi-custom 'Mechs because their stock 'Mechs weren't effective against experienced players.

Yeah, the Awesome is pretty awesome too when everything else doesn't have the ability to pinpoint huge alphas like we get with optimized custom designs -- its funny that a mediocre 'Mech in public games becomes a force to be reckoned with in stock matches, but we've seen it a lot with several chassis including the Hunchback 4G.

Nah, bring them on man! It's not a league or anything...just to hang and have fun. In the future we'd love to do a tournament or something. We want the Stock Mech Monday thing to become a steady event first then we'll set our eyes on that.

But yea, bring em all! Would you be opposed to playing as three four-mans against your brethren?

That would be a GREAT option!

Or even a mode:

Conquest [ ]
Assault [ ]
Skirmish [ ]
Hardcore [x] ...always random mode, defaults your Mech to stock, acts like there's no modules. GOO!!!!

If I remember right the 4G is the only one lower than a Victor 9B that even has an AC/20? It is brutal when it flanks and suddenly parts start flying off. Even the 4SP is brutal with dual SRM6s.

I'm eager to see if stock only changes the desire of Quickdraws and Trebuchets.

I would, if I had Quickdraws. I have more reason now to play the game simply to buy any Stock 'Mech. I do have a Trebuchet, which is a 7K.

The resources make this game exciting again.
