Any idea why the load times are so long? We missed your Hunchback these two weeks.

I want a Locust now ... serious. The only reason I haven't already bought one is that I really don't relish the thought of levelling them in public matches. But they look to be an amazing challenge in SMM, and between Speedislife's performance and yours, I now believe the Locust to be one of the three most useful light 'mechs in stock Tech-1 matches. Of course, there's no telling without having tried it -- yet.

There is no idea why it suddenly got longer a few patches ago, but they have been working on optimizing the initial start of match loading time. I'm not the only person experiencing these issues, hence the August 8th hot fix. The latest patch is suppose to have something to help some of the problem, so I shall see if it helps any tonight.
It's rather strange as sometimes I barely have any problems, and other times I get into the match with 5 minutes already on the match clock, if not already killed...
(Though you may see me in the St. Ives Blue a little... just wondering if I can do as well in that as I can in the 4J.)

This essentially reflects how Locusts are and have been in Battle Tech stock and the previous games that had stock mode. The Locust was dirt cheap, but also an effective, fast scout, and one of the most common Light Mechs used by all IS factions.

That way we will have more classic roster, where most common mechs in order are mediums, lights, heavys and then assoults.

Actually, that means we'd only see mediums, and nothing else.
Right now, we have tonnage restrictions and limits, that usually make the games more along the lines of lots of mediums, with a few assaults, and heavies in between.

I would say I see too many atlases now.

Personally, I didn't think we had that many assaults, and the teams that did had a lot of lights (by choice).
If the teams seemed unbalanced, I feel it's more because those that chose to take a light mech were rather skilled with them.
My opinion (which is just that) is that tonnage does not necessarily mean/indicate balance. It's skill within each individual chassis that impacts the game. (My example is I know I went out in the Thunderbolt 9SE on Wednesday to "upton" the team. Each time I did, I did not preform as well as I normally do in my "humble" 4J. I may have taken more tonnage into the match, but I wasn't as effective with that tonnage as I would have been in my lighter mech.)
Maybe last Monday was different, as I couldn't join because of a major bug (now fixed).
By the way, I'm thinking of setting a challenge for myself. To try and expand my skills (and get me out of the 4J for a bit maybe), I was wondering if you guys wished to decide what stock chassis (I think I should at least get to choose variant) I should play in one of the upcoming SMM? I'll save up the C-bills and purchase the mech. Might give me something new and challenging to pilot, instead of my normal, and it could be a mech we don't normally see in SMM. Any requests?

Might sound rough, but I have a suggestion, or two, for each weight class:
1- Lights: Locust, or commando
2- Mediums: Centurion, Trebuchet, Kintaro
3- Quickdraw, Dragon, Orion
4- Assaults: Highlander, Awesome, Stalker.
Hope those entice you.
