Was that the one where you ended up smacking my Orion around? We were helping a new player figure out mech piloting.

Me and Tesunie already have alt accounts in a unit for that purpose. Stock 'Mech Corps (~TRO) is always looking for brave recruits to hit the field. If nothing else, it will be great drops with great people on your team.

That sounds like a fun idea. I think actually the best option would be to keep the same loadout but allow for upgrades to DHS, Endo/Ferro, armor, and ammo. Then you can play the spirit of the Mech and at least be able to "compete" on a minimal level. IMO, pure stock in the non-stock queue would just be murder...getting squashed is only so fun (plus your teammates will be yelling at you in the chat lol).
That's my opinion!
Also, the Champion trials are all upgraded and whatnot anyway with DHS, etc.

I like the spirit of that idea, but I think raising the kind of funds needed to purchase a stock mech and kit it out with doubles and endo would be preventative for a Monday/Wednesday only group. The trials would certainly be easier and competitive, and sorta-kinda keep with the "Stock" mentality. Just not TRO-stock.
Unless you mean allow stock loadout builds (with double heat sinks, etc) AND champions in the drop, in which case, I have reading-comprehension fail

No you're reading right. But if you DID kit out some stuff and play Mechs in their stock roles/weaponry then you could do the same thing to grind cbills in the regular queue too...

Way ahead of you, but Wolf is way ahead of me telling you I'm ahead of you... Okay, that got confusing quick!

I actually found, even with the ammo restraints of a pure stock build, my (single) CW match I played (with Greywolf) I did very well in it. And no one complained about me or my stock mechs. I did about 300 damage in my Hunchback 4J, 4P and another 150 in my Orion (but my Orion survived) all stock mechs before we lost the match.
I wouldn't wish champion mechs personally... If I was to play a champion mech, I'd rather just buy and customize my own mech at that point.
Oh, and *Executed* your idea already! (Bad computer terminology pun.)

Though I haven't changed any aspect of my stock mechs in my unit account, I don't exactly mind the concept of being able to take Endo for more ammo or heat sinks for better capabilities in CW. But that would be about the extent of changes I'd prefer. Of course, I could always be out voted in the unit on such matters. For now, we are accepting any stock TRO mech, including mock ups (though I'd rather not have a mock up version, as I want opponents to clearly see we are running stock mechs).
With enough practice with a stock mech's role, and finding the stock mechs that blend right for your playstyle... you'd be surprised what a stock mech can do. Plus, it's for our fun anyway. What does it really matter if we lose or win anyway? As long as we are having fun. (Of course, we still aim to win...)

By the way... I wasn't able to find out but, how well did you do in that one match we teamed up for CW? I did 750ish damage with my mechs before the Omega was destroyed...

I didn't do to bad considering I spent most of the match in my CPLT-C4. Picked my shots carefully and I'm pretty sure most of my missiles hit their target(even destroyed a Timber with my mighty small lasers). After I ran out of ammo I ejected into my K2 but by that time they were making the final push to the gun. I think I finished with around 500ish damage, 2 kills and 13 assists. All in all, not bad stats considering what I was running.

There is no way to get the other random team to follow along, since they will only use what the system allows, abusing the build system or gaming the lackadaisical mechanics (heat mechanics, other stuff). Even with the lackadaisical mechanics, I would play only if guaranteed a match against a stock mech (meaning absolutely parity since when you see a "HBK-4G" you know exactly what it carries and where its ammo is, and relative balance within those confines).
I'll still play stock days when I have time though, that's the all the interest I have in MWO with ya'll stock fans. I still enjoy going on Smurfy, with each new Mech thing, and seeing what other missing stock variants I can build for Wednesday.
