I would buy a gold mech if MWO played like a slower and more tactical version of titanfall. Say what you want about that game, but it's frigging amazing...and includes everything for less than $100.

There is no condition in which I would buy a Gold Mech. If I didn't have a 2 month old child, was unmarried and got a promotion I would buy a Masakari Collection. But even with all that a Gold mech? Um, no. Not even remotely appealing, regardless of the cost.

Proper balancing.
Proper mechbay
CW.
UI3.0 or something usefull (not like the current one).
Tanks and ground mobile units
Planes, choppers
Soldiers/Elementals
Objectives
etc....

Except that the gold ones aren't Pay To Win - they just have the skin and a small C-Bill/XP (can't remember) boost, that's it. A Gold Timber Wolf's no different to a normal one, gameplay-wise. So you wouldn't even have that angle to justify buying a Gold 'Mech.

At least the deals are a bit better than I initially thought - I first thought they were just for the gold 'mech and those extras, didn't realise they had the Masakari pack included as well. Still not gonna get one, though - happy with what I chose through the a la carte mode.
