If you don't buy a Founder's pack, you will cry later.

I spend most of my money on women and beer. The rest I just waste.

I know we're all frustrated about the beta (we all want to play this great game), but I would hardly say the beta's been poorly handled. It was the first stage of a closed beta, they could only allow in so many testers due to hardware considerations and other issues (pretty common). They decided to hand out their initial 10k beta keys somewhat randomly (also fairly common). Next month they will start their second stage of the closed beta where they can allow far more players to test the game (and the purpose of beta is testing, not really as a trial because the version you're playing isn't the final one) and they have already stated that founders will likely be given priority in gaining access to the next stage of the closed beta. All of this seems pretty fair to me, even if I cry a little inside every time I see the 'Pending' bar.

May I suggest you all take the path of Minobu Tetsuhara? It would be ever so delightful and much more productive :)

Gentlemen, all your base are belong to us. Make your time...and give a brother a beta :(

(sorry for the repeat, post went mia)

Look, In the age of try before you buy i aint buying till i see what i am getting.

Every Mech game has sucked. and never stayed true to the table top.

Also being a Professional developer i know the limitations of the cry engine, lets just hope they have a source license and are not doing stuff in LUA for the engine.

But i want to see and make sure i want to play it before I buy.

Its like a marriage i wanna know what i am getting into and a strong prenuptial agreement.

The founder's packages are there for people to show support for the development of the game. If you don't to show support for the game, then shut up. If all the previous mechwarrior games sucked in your opinion, this one won't change your mind, because your mind is geared toward sucking, and not appreciating. If you want to play tabletop, then play tabletop.

Good God, why did I let this troll get my goat? I guess I get sick of all the negativity some people bring and I gotta lash out at someone, so you get it Dimentox. Seriously, if you have a legitimate complaint about something, okay, but don't Poo Poo stuff you've already chosen not to be involved in.

I hope you don't get a Beta invite. They need POSITIVE and/or CONSTRUCTIVE feedback.

Why don't you use your developer skills to make a tabletop program for Battletech. You know, overhead view with little mechs standing in hex grids. Oh wait, it's because no one would play it! Not when they can play Mechwarrior!

Word of Tanks is STILL in beta judging by the way they "balance" things....

Point here is about getting beta invites with those founders pack purchases. Not about WoT, dont counter arguments just for the sake of it.

Its like buying a car without test drive it, or like OP said getting married without knowing who's your significant other is...

This person is silly if he thinks they will let him in based on that alone.

Please no if this guy gets a CBT invite before I do I will be upset.

Try before you buy demand for a CBT invite??? lol you do realize CBT is to help find and resolve bugs and issues, not a trial to see if you'll like the game right?

F2P games are practically propped up by "donations" from the community. In general you get some recompense for that donation... a Special mech, some cool equipment, etc. But i'm a big fan of F2P games as a rule and more than happy to support the continuation of that style of game design.

When I get paid, I'm in ;-)

Also a fan of Mechwarrior but from the computerised games and books... never played the tabletop which is a shame...

I really hope you dont get invited then. Its not try before you buy. If you were a professional developer then you would know that.

Every mech game has sucked, mmm ok. I think perhaps you dont like mech games. It does seem like a good reason not to buy. /boggle

That said this game caters for tight *** cynics by being F2P. So try before you ... dont have to buy at all.

Every mech game has not sucked. I really enjoyed the targeting ability to head shot in MW1 and MW2's music was kick *** as well as the ability to use different optics. "all systems nominal" press L,I,W,R. And let the hunting begin. I think i'll keep a sheet of people i hope to run across in game. <Evil cackle>

I already countered the "argument" with:

You aren't entitled to a closed beta invite, it's not a free trial.

Now i'm having fun because this thread and all like it are dumb.

Hmm...I agree with the OP. I was in the Beta of World of Tanks and played it extensively. Apart from doing some bug reports, it got me to know what kind of game I was playing and what I am to expect. When it was released, or just before the release, I bought the highest preorder package.

Right now, I am logging in just to buy the top founders package because I love Mechwarrior and Battletech in general but upon seeing this thread, it made me have second thoughts. What I have seen from the gameplay vids is impressive but I would like to know how the gameplay is like and especially want to know how well it would run on my G73jh.

In any case, I have applied for the closed Beta.

Minimum specs have been posted (you can try to compare your specs) and you should read the dev blogs. They describe the game pretty well already.

Yeah, I was rather partial to the first online multiplayer mechwarrior. Based partially on one of the first games engine wise. BIG points if someone can name what ... hrm... what would you call the? ISP I guess. What ISP had the first online mechwarrior game? We are talking WAY back :D

I don't know if this has been said (I just quickly sifted through all the posts here) but why does Beta-access equals "know what you're getting into"?

I beta-tested for Krater and it somewhat ruined the game for me, since the beta and the final game differs wery much.

Self entitlement to the max! It almost as if you believe the devs owe you something when they're the ones making a bloody free-to-play game.

With all respect....too bad. There's a limited number of people who get in the beta and you haven't been lucky enough to get it. So have many others, what makes your case so special?

If every mech game has sucked, then why in hell are you threatening to not get the Founders in a bloody free-to-play game?! It seems as if you just don't like the games. For a "professional developer," you don't seem to realize that TT rules being applied to a vidja game wouldn't work out too well.

Riiiiiiiight. And I'm a leprechaun! Unless you have a degree or some other actual proof, this seem more like a very weak attempt at adding some credence to a very self-centered post.

It's a freaking free-to-play game! Why not just wait until launch and play the game for free instead of acting like the devs owe you something.

See above! Noone is forcing you to buy the Founders package at all. Just play the game for free when it comes out instead of asking the devs to treat you special.

Also you'll never get me pot o' gold!

If you want something similar to the tabletop game, you're in the wrong place.
The Mechcommander series and especially the soon to be released Mechwarrior: Tactics are more geared more towards the tabletop turn based, over-head combat of Battletech. You might want to look there.

Mechwarrior has always catered more to people who want to be in the pilot seat. If you didn't like the previous Mechwarrior games it is unlikely this will change your mind. The gameplay videos should have already cleared it up on how much of a Mech simulator this is; it wouldn't be much different if you played the game on a beta.

tl;dr Don't waste your money.

Yeah no one forces me to buy, that's true, but if i'm paying for it might as well get the invite too.

You. it is still free, just don't pre-order.
There is NO ENTITLEMENT TO CLOSED BETA.

Either take a risk and support the devs, or don't. Wait for open beta or launch, when it is 100%, totally free.

A lot of hostility coming from the people who purchased Founders packs. A couple of people should have been banned from the forums. People can have their own opinions and should not be roasted just because you don't agree. You people are F'n up the community and are going to drive away gamers/potential customers.

$120 for the Legendary and $120 for a years subscription to the premium account is a lot of money, especially when someone can go plunk down 60 bucks for a premium game that has single player and multi player and is all inclusive. The DLC drops and pay another 15 bucks.
so 75 dollars for game that you can play for years and has all content already included. - Yep it's Free to Play and that's my intention.

As far as you guys supporting the dev/company that's great. PG didn't create this because they love and care about you.
They do it for money. Period. Though they may love the game it's all about Money and how much they can extract from the fan base.

On the subject of money...it's scary when a company cannot take in money from their sales. I went through the process several times today but was unable to purchase the game. If they are going to hire a fly by night company to do their transactions and risk having what happened today, what other areas are going to be haphazard? Crappy servers, poor connections etc. etc.?

Also springing the Legendary tier on us without warning and it not being uniform in it's graduation of value from the Elite Tier is total BS.

If any Dev is reading this please take my name off the list for Beta Test. I'm not interested in testing. Thanks in advance.

To the Trolls and Flamers that will pile on here: [REDACTED]
