How can they have gotten the Stormcrow and Puma so right when they got the Timberwolf so wrong? The excellent renditions of the lighter Clan mechs we've seen so far just makes the butchering that they put the most iconic of the Clan mechs through even more painful.

Alt. Config. A armed with a single LRM-20 four Medium Pulse Lasers and two Streak SRM-6 making it a deadly knife fighter

Alt. Config. B carries a single, deadly Ultra Autocannon/20 as its primary weapon. This is backed up by six ER Medium Lasers it has three additional double heat sinks

Alt. Config. C has an LB-X Autocannon/10 that can fire both standard and cluster ammunition. The C configuration also carries a Large Pulse Laser and two Medium Pulse Lasers

Alt. Config. D has, as its primary weapons, a pair of LRM-20 launchers. These are backed up by two SRM-2 launchers for close combat. All of these weapons are augmented with an Narc Missile Beacon,

(Alt. Config. F
This variant uses a pair of arm-mounted Plasma Cannons that increase the target's heat. In addition to its capabilities as an anti-infantry unit, the 'Mech also has a pair of Anti-Personnel Gauss Rifles in each arm, making the Stormcrow F devastating against unarmored infantry. For use against hardened targets, it has four ER Medium Lasers and two ER Small Lasers

Scratch anything beyond D. No APGR, no plasma rifles, and no ATM at this point in the story.

Apparently completely contrary to popular opinion, I like the Mad Cat and dislike the other two. Not because the art team did a bad job, I just think they've always looked dumb. Especially the Ryoken, which looks like someone built it out of Lego Technic.

Once again, it looks good. I hope the rest of the 'mechs are up to the standards of this and the Adder instead of the Timberwolf.

It also looks rather large for a 55-tonner. We'll have to see how it holds up in-game.

I really liked this design until I noticed the tiny little fists of fury, which I can't stop looking at now.

My guess would be that accounts will support one inner sphere and one clan pilot. Eg;
'Voodoolou Mc Kerensky' from Butte Hold is not the same guy as 'star commander voodoolou kerensky'.

no

Not that this has anything to do with the thread, but you are both wrong based upon the information we have been given so far. You are always welcome to create two individual accounts, but PGI has not said anything about having two independent characters per account and HAS said that they will NOT limit mech choice by faction.

Hm, i remember there was something about loyalty points and making some 'Mechs more or less expensive to specific factions? Well either way clans and is 'Mechs aren't going to drop together. (If they do the cry will shatter the universe.) So the bare arsed minimum would be to have each account select two factions. One for clan drops and one for is drops. Even if they share skills you could consider that two 'pilots' sharing a name. :D

Where did you read that they will be dropping separately? I'm pretty sure that is wrong, but if you have a source I would love to read it.

Loyalty points are supposed to affect purchases in CW, yes, but that has nothing to do with actually locking people out of certain mechs based upon their current faction.

Yeah, PGI doesn't seem to want to give concrete information on the matter and it's hard to muck out what we'll actually get from the multiple semi informed perspectives given. I see a lot of people saying that fights will be 'clan v clan', 'is v is' or 'is v clan' based on population (which is how it should be done) but I also see them discussing 'open queue, faction queue and private queue' which would never work because it's splitting the queue, pointlessly again. Remember when they said they'd have 3rd person queues? Yeeah.

So yeah, I'm going by guess work based on what little information I can scrape up here and drawing the best, most logical conclusion I can. Either way though they'll need to have some sort of pilot separation or you'll have people simultaneously accruing loyalty points for Davion and then dropping for clan whackamole.

This reminded me why i dislike most of the clan original designs...they were aweful

That reminds me why I liked most of the original Clan designs... they are beautiful! Clan Omnies remind real war machines, I think that utilitarian style has something from soviet weaponry in them. Functionality highlighted in design, not the "creative vision" of its constructor. So many different opinions, you know :D Nothing can beat dreadful beauty of Dire Wolf, or predatory look of Mad Dog, or awkward impetuosity of Stormcrow, or...

I wouldn't base much off of that thread, as they are WAY off base compared to what has actually been stated. I'm on my iPad, so finding all the threads would take me all night, but I'll try to look some stuff up when I get home if I have time.

Suffice it to say that there will not be ANY restrictions on which mechs (IS/Clan) you drop with until CW is implemented, at the very least, and anything after that is completely guesswork because PGI hasn't even said how faction and lone wolves will even work. I don't think mech selection will have ANYTHING to do with it though.

Looks great! I still think the Timberwolf looks good also. I think once we see it in action it will fit in more naturally, and it won't look so ungainly.

If it is animated like I remember from MW2.... it will still look ungainly. :D

If true, this will end in tears.

Stormcrow was my personal favorite 'mech in Mechwarrior 2, is one of the three I preordered not so long ago, and I'm glad it looks so good.

One minor quibble, and I know it's far to late to mess around with the model now, but for future things like the Mad Dog or whatnot- When the design had barrels for lasers in the arms, could you actually make the lasers look long enough to be something proportionate to those barrels? The artwork seemed to manage to capture this even with the square lasers of MWO, but the ingame screenshots make them look squashed, cut off or snub-nosed. At least maybe make the Large lasers on there longer (or seated slightly further forward) than the medium ones?

I mean, these are ER lasers after all, they might have more lenses and whatnot in there than the IS versions do.
