I even turned off cockpit glass, film grain and depth of field. Doesnt seem to have made any difference.
Any ideas on how to improve performance? Are there any possible cfg tweaks out there?

personally, fps took a slight hit with the patch, but only about 2-3 fps here and there

DX9 and DX11 are in the in-game Settings menu
read the very end of the latest patch-notes for info on disabling cockpit glass in your user.cfg file. I'm guessing they'll add the UI in settings in the next patch or 2.

DX9 / DX11 is a menu selection in the Video Settings.
Removing cockpit glass, film grain, and Depth of Field must be done by adding lines to a user.cfg file:
Quote
r_HDRGrainAmount=0.0-1.0 (film grain amount)
gp_option_ShowCockpitGlass=0/1 (off/on)
r_DepthOfField=0/1 (off/on)

How much of the stuff in that thread is still applicable?

This is an old bug. May have resurfaced. Last time I saw it was a year plus ago.
As for performance issues, I saw none. But then again I was in private matches and we never got above 6v6.

This makes no sense since the front end UI has no impact with the actual gameplay graphics.

2) If that doesn't fix it, run the repair tool with all options checked except clean profile.

Before contacting support I spent several months waiting for patches and trying to find a problem on my end. I even formatted Windows and reinstalled the game. I have deleted my entire USER folder in MWO several times and done just about everything I can think of. I even went as far as to check the system requirements for the game again to see if somehow I was lacking somewhere. I wasn't. I'm actually above the recommended system requirements. Yet here I am dropping into 20s on FPS with almost completely low settings.
I have a Phenom II X4 980 3.7Ghz Quadcore processor with 8GB 1600Mhz DDR3 RAM and an EVGA GTX770 Superclocked 2GB video card and before you say my processor is old, please take note of the system requirements for the game, an Athlon II X4 650. This processor is MUCH slower than mine, considering mine is the same generation as the recommended processor but a whole tier higher. This was the fastest quadcore in this generation and I should not be, under any circumstances, dropping into the 20 or 30 FPS on almost all low settings.
Now I have spent THREE WEEKS talking to support and they do not know what to tell me. I have sent them about 7 or 8 logs and files and they cannot tell me anything. I even upgraded to the beta Nvidia drivers that are supposed to massively increase performance. They made no difference at all.
For kicks last week I even fired up GRID 2 since I hadn't had a chance to try it out on this new card since upgrading from a GTX 570. I was greeted with a minimum framerate of 54 FPS with all max settings and an average of 74 FPS. GRID 2's minimum framerate is HIGHER than my average in MWO. Yet in MWO before the match starts and after it's over I get over 100+ FPS. I know some of you may say "well MWO is CPU intensive" and you would be right. However I also noticed something else, GRID 2 used FAR more CPU than MWO, makes the fans run faster than MWO, makes my system generate far more heat than MWO (note I used AIDA64 to monitor temps and fan speeds on a 2nd monitor while playing) and even games which take advantage of PhysX run FAR better than MWO and considering how big of a hit PhysX is on anything that doesn't have a secondary card, I think that's saying something.
Anyway to sum it up, something is very wrong somewhere and it's only been getting worse. I feel if it gets too much worse I may have to stop playing all together, which is very unfortunate.

Do it. it will re-create the shaders folder. By Shaders folder he means the ...\Piranha Games\MechWarrior Online\USER\Shaders\ folder. You need to close your client before doing so.
Running my laptop with a 770m too, I've had some wired graphic bugs myself aswell:
