I kind of 'get' the design tweak to have more field of view from the cockpit vertically but the purist in me says no - keep the original design with the canopy overhang to protect the pilot and bring back the forward tilt cockpit-glass.
I've pre-ordered the Warhawk/Masakari and am a little perplexed bout the low-slung LRM rack - it definitely should be mounted higher, either on the upper arm or the shoulder.
"We are clan and we design uber-mechs.... but let's put this LRM launcher waaaay down here for a laugh....." - can't see it myself.

I get why they put the missile pod on the arm, but why couldn't it be fit flat on the top of the gunpod part of the arm?

I like it! Well done PGI.

I suspect this will be the least bought Clan Mech. Most people probably stopped at the Timber Wolf.

I haven't bought any Clan Mechs and against my better judgement I might grab one on the a la carte menu (still think that they are overpriced though).

I have two chassis from the a la carte selection - Warhawk/Masakari and the Summoner/Thor. Fighting the urge to get a Timber Wolf (money...blah blah.... food.... mortgage....)

The problem I see with this mech is once you blow off the arms, it's rendered useless. Although I know that the side torso's are interchangeable with other variants so my first statement might not be true. My gut feeling about these mech's is their going to be like the hunchback: They look good on paper but when you get them in the field that their going to have some major vulnerabilities(Hunchies lunchbox or hunch).

Nearly all the clan mechs coming will be like that. ESPECIALLY the dire wolf.

As the the original post. yeah, I'd love to toss you guys some money, if this game were worth investing in anymore. This mech will likely suffer in its primary config, even with 20 doubles.

If you only take that variant and don't change parts with others, what builds will be left for it? 4 ER-PPCs seems to be way to hot with our current heat system so what will you build?

4x ERLL? 4x LPL? A mix of those? 5 Hardpoints with one of them pretty useless, the IS 85 tonners have up to 10 hardpoints...
really interested in different builds for that one.

hm - any ideas how to handle that thing with Ghost Heat....92.5 heat - not even the 40DHS can handle 4 ER-PPCs fired at once.
That will create lots of tears...in June

And we are talking about 10 Damage C/ERPPC not 15 Damage C/ERPPC... Due to pre-nerf by Mr. P.

The Clans didn't have LAMS actively deployed in 3050, so I'm not expecting it. Just regular AMS.

Extremely good rendition of Warhawk.

I'm fine with LRM placement - placing it on shoulder wouldn't go well with the fact that mech has lower arm actuators, but I'd rather go with square 2-3-2-3 box like in concept art (it would look more pod-ish, like it should), or at least place it horizontally.

As it is now, it reminds me of ridiculous original TRO's Wolverine's "Lunch Box" in LA:

I was never a fan of the huge helicopter landing pad on top of the mech, but it could be very usefull to carry your Nova around on top to increase firepower!

I guess the placement and form of the cockpit and hat is to have a clear view infront and to the sides with only a bit of protection blocking your sight.
If the cockpit would be angled the other way around, you could not look up or to the sides at all and it would be only usefull for sniping straight ahead.
Think that would be a waste for the broad shoulder slung arms, as you can use them pretty good to each side, from what I can see in these pictures.
Now I just hope the arm angle for the chassis reflects that. :)

Anyone else see the stubby nose and the flaps to look like a flat-nosed dog with hanging cheeks? ("german dogge" )

I like the damn thing, but can everyone forget the campervan and tell me;

What's up with the arms not converging but pointing different directions. Same with Madcat?
Seems odd.

And same time, what horrors will targeting computer bring, some clarification on that from PGIs corner would be nice.
