I have been playing MechWarrior Online for some time now. I have also played Battletech back in the day (Aol) till you had to pay my mom would not let me have it anymore. But anyway to my story. All in my time I don’t think I ever seen people complain so much about other MechWarrior’s in my time. I mean don’t get me wrong there was some trash talk going on but for the most part it was a nice quiet gaming experience. Now I go on MechWarrior there is also some 20 some year old who feels he needs to act like he is 10 and talk crap on someone. But that’s not the funny part, this is the funny part, he did worse than the MechWarrior’s he is referring to. I am about to tell a quick version of a game I just recently played with a guy who puts down his team and only did 275 damage but avoided most of the battle.

Board: Forrest Colony
Game type: Assault
We start off on the side that has the upper base. We move down towards cave and there we meet up with the entire team. Some hold one side of cave and others holding the flank so they don’t push in behind us. Now most of the team was called out to be in cave. I am using a Cicada 3m mech with lasers and a/c2, I am also carrying ecm. So I am trying to stay close to my team to help them from being caught by any lrms and shooting mechs like crazy. I pull off 2 kills during this match with 250 damage.

Now we all are fighting in this area mostly in cave but some outside. I was going back and forth between them to help out witch ever side needed it the most. I noticed there was on mech all by himself out in the water almost to the point he was out of the map. Every now and then I saw a lrm 5 or 10 come flying overhead from him and hit someone or mostly nothing because they were in cave. Now I don’t know of any mech that will only carry an lrm 10 or two lrm5 and if you did only carry them then who is the useless one on the team? So any way this guy keeps fighting from our there the hole time.

All near cave on my team die except me and one other guy we run back to base to use our turrets for help. They out number us big time. Well they spotted this lrm guy in water and most rushed him and killed him.

Meanwhile we help back our base long as we could but I died soon after the lrm guy. As soon as he died I posted in team chat that he has a bunch of useless [redacted] on his team. I told him how good I did and what I did for the team. He agrees to this saying that yes I saw you did well and you had ecm and used it well. He said. “I am referring to the guys in the cave that were fighting the other team in cave.” I am now asking my self wtf is this guy talking about? So I said to him not know who was in water with lrms at the time.

I personally think whoever was the one in water shooting lrms at the enemy once in a blue moon, and hitting the outside of the cave, and not engaged with enemies who were outside was the useless one of the team. He then said “I was helping I was out in water and I did more damage then you”. But the truth is we were down one from the start with this guy. But yet he is one to start talking crap on a team that tried and just got outplayed.

Either way was a good game and I liked it. Just get sick of everyone judging others when they are no better. Don’t get me wrong I am no god MechWarrior and give people advice but don’t sit and put down others calling them useless because we lost. This is a game we all sit and enjoy playing even if we lose some. Guys were all humans lets act like them not some animals or [redacted]

Did I read that right, that you threw the first insults in chat, towards your team?

Even if you are frustrated, this is not acceptable. It's actually against the games code of conduct.

If you just miswrote that, let me tell you that the correct way of handling this, would have been to report said player to support for a language violation. Discussing it on the forums might be good to vent some steam, but it will not help you at all.

Even with the readability edits, I still struggled. I think the basic jist was:

Quote

On Forest Colony, my team decided to deathblob in the cave, which some people would consider foolish but I thought was a good idea. When the enemy team inevitably overran us because our poor tactical decision, most of use got killed but I escaped because I was in a fast light with ECM. When I died, I decided to call out and throw insults at the only guy sensible enough not to get involved in the clusterf**k at the cave.

This was a waste of time to read.
So is this very post.
Stop reading this, you're wasting more time.
Do something else.
No, seriously, why are you still reading this?
This isn’t important.
Stop it!
STOP!! Now!.

Stop it!

Just for the record, an organized team of 12 mechs with at least an LRM 5 or 10 can usually clean up the enemy pretty fast if they just focus fire those LRMs. After all, a combined volley of anywhere from 60 to 240 LRMs can ruin anyone's day. AND it allows all mech to be defensible enough when it comes down to a brawl.

I'm sorry but all of that for one bad game? Why not just accept that fact that its going to be one of 'those' games, ignore the guys and move on? I can recall over 20 times in the last week alone where something like that has happened, i.e. I have a match in my Huginn (stock lol) and be the only person on the team to get decent stats and contribute anything and get called everything under the sun. It's frustrating sure but I certainly don't make a thread about it everytime. Also might it have occured to you that the 'useless' guy was simply firing at other targets? I certainly don't waste my time firing LRMS near the cave due to the ease of being able avoid them.

How does complaining about someone who complained about others help you or help them? What are you trying to accomplish here?

Probably because, as Egomane pointed out, you wrote that you insulted everyone. It's pretty obvious you screwed up while writing, but that IS what you wrote.

Its not surprising that players often complain about other players, but as anyone who plays MWO in solo drops can confirm, you will often see some very bizarre behaviour.

Probably the most common one would be teammates running away when enemy mechs show up, leaving their teammates to die. This happens very frequently. And sometimes they will try and blame you for not running away with them (because an Atlas is totally going to be able to run away with a Jenner).

Can't tell you how much fun I was having last night in a battle , I'd died early ish but done 500 damage with a couple of kills , Was spectating a hunchback , the game was lost we had 2 guys left they had 6, but the orion and hunchback had corbed a spider , the spider initially targeted the hunch until it realised , I actually don't think deliberately the hunchback was hitting his friendly orion more then the spider. So the spider opted to focus fire the orion xD .

Its always nice when you get on a team that knows what its doing (and i dont mean when you get a premade in metabuilds that wipes the enemy without a fight).

There was a game in which it was just me and two light emchs without ECM left vs 5 or 6 enemy mechs, mostly heavies and assaults, lots of health left. I was pretty sure we were screwed because all they had to do was rush me 400 meters away and then cap at their leisure.

To my surprise the light mechs managed to lure the enemy mechs out 1 by 1 so i could hit them while hidden from the rest of the enemy team, and that eventually managed to do enough damage to finish them off. I was expecting them to just charge in and get killed pointlessly, like what usually happens. And none of us communicated in any way to do this.

Alos just had a game earlier in which our lance was taking heavy fire at one of the side points on Canyon. Rest of the team was in the middle, and what usually happens is that they sit there and watch us die. This time around though, they actually came to support us and we wiped them with ease.

Unfortunately stuff like this happens extremely rarely.

Ah, so you made a typo. It was the guy in the water throwing the insults. Ok. So the corrected TL;DR version:

Quote

On Forest Colony, my team decided to deathblob at one end of the cave, which some people would consider foolish but I thought was a good idea. When the enemy team inevitably overran us because of our poor tactical decision, most of us got killed but I escaped because I was in a fast light with ECM. Then the only guy not to get involved in the clusterf**k at the cave died and decided to impolitely point out to the rest of the team what a bad decision they'd made. Then I died too. Then I got into an epeen contest with the other guy, bringing me down to his level and robbing of credulity my subsequent post about the event, which I posted in a bizarre effort to take some sort of moral high ground.

It's always been this way and any game - the sh*t talking is immense. It's in CS:GO, BF, CoD any GAME.

....AND it's always been in mechwarrior. Just part of the game. Join and team , get better and move on.

Funny thing is the better you are, the more players will tend to be intimidated by you/hate you. Just like real life ;0
