On low you might be able to pull it off, the A8 is a fairly weak CPU. Even adding in a dedicated video card would help out a lot. In the end download and try the game out and start adjusting settings until it is playable for you.

Do me a favor. Right click "Computer" if you can find it, and then properties.
Use that info for me, if you could. 3.6 gigs ram is a very odd number.

my computer has 4gb of ram, but only uses 3.6 for some reason. i have played the game and on low i can play it, and i get around 18-22 fps. i run a centurian, and i get any where from 150-250 dmg per match, due to the low fps i die rather quickly cause i cant aim well

Maybe he has bad sectors on the DIMMs? I remember I used to have an old computer where it wasn't detecting all of my RAM.

Prolly due to shared video ram.

If you can't aim well because of your machine, it's not good enough to play this game =( MWO is really hard on computers, unfortunately. I'd guess that your RAM is the choke point, but my expertise is very out of date, so you'd want to check with Kon or someone else for a definitive answer.

His information says "dedicated RAM" on the video card... but that could be "dedicated" out of his general RAM. Lemme actually do some research...

Yep, according to the websites I checked, it doesn't come with its own RAM - which is bad, because GPU RAM is significantly faster than general-purpose RAM. It's because it doesn't have to deal with as many instructions in its instruction set. Anyway, any time you buy a computer, you want to check for that; it makes a HUGE difference in gaming performance.

thanks, i was gonna get a quick 2gbs of ram and put it in, to see if the aiming is due to my computer being under the 4gb ram mark...and any way it will also help to give my computer a litte more breathing room.

i am playing on a laptop, not a desktop, im surprised it even runs at all lol.
my laptop runs hawken on medium settings, deus ex: human revolution on ultra settings with 30fps no problem.

Ya for how the A8 is setup it pulls it's memory from system memory, thus creating the odd amount displayed. My HTPC does the same thing but it's an A10 with a lot more RAM (it was in sale lol).

The being a laptop which make and model? Also for upgrades to to www.crucial.com as they have a tool to scan your system and let you know what can be upgraded.

The Radeon card sounds more than good enough, but you are seriously lacking on ram. I'm personally running 16, but 8 should be plenty to run quite a bit better than you are now.

It's an intergrated card, which means laptop? Hope not, that's gonna make things hard.

Well, if it runs other modern games well, you might get more results out of more RAM. I really don't know any more - been a long time since I used to sell computer components, but it's what I'd do. Shared video memory is a generally Bad Thing, but it's more common on laptops, where space is at a premium, and it's harder to cool a large GPU with its own RAM.

Anyway, see above. =)

Beyond 8 isn't going to make any difference in MWO, unless you're running a lot of other stuff on your system too (such as video capture, which I know you do). For an average player though, not running other things at the same time, 4GB will get you acceptable performance, 8 will be the most that will impact gameplay.

In the OP's circumstance, his performance will be CPU bottlenecked. The APU's suffer from splitting memory bandwidth between the CPU/system ram and GPU/video ram, so this is going to hurt him even more. More RAM isn't really going to impact his performance much at all.

The reality is there's not a lot he can do to improve performance with that setup, unless he can replace the APU (if it's a laptop, don't bother, if it's a desktop he could likely get a snazzier A10 to pop in there and get more respectable performance... Though still with the same limitations due to memory bandwidth.

Aha, a Sattelite, so a laptop. Thus, no CPU upgrade.

Given that, I'd not bother investing any sort of money into the system, and instead just save for something more capable.

It'll be a good work/class laptop and a good hand-me-down to give someone for their first laptop later on.

So long as it's running though you'll be able to play. Might advise sticking to slower mechs for now, missile mechs don't get any impact from slow computers (the LRM ones). The less you move the better the frames most likely.

According to here http://www.crucial.c...7-upgrades.html you can put more RAM in but it is not really worth it. Use the money to save up for a something better for now. As pointed out the A8 just doesn't fair well for Crytek games. As much as I hate to tell people stuff like this MWO does require a fairly good system. If interested I could spec a machine that should play the game for 800 and everything else under the sun, but that would just be tower no keyboard and mouse (use TV for monitor).

im kind of low on funds for now, i just got fired. i already have a mouse and keyboard and a monitor. this laptop was supposed to be for school, but it just happened to have just enough specs to play some pretty ok games.

Long as it's bearable. But the game is a LOT better when you can enjoy the graphics.

As examples.
