If one has mastered most of the "regular" models of the four above mechs and can fit as needed, is there any one hero model on sale that stands out in effectiveness over any variant, besides the bonus xp and cbills?

Not quite sure what you mean - as all the heroes do something different (and what some people consider effective - others do not)

IE: Yenlo is the only CN9 that can carry an AC/20 - and is potentially the fastest AC/20 carrier in the game - but a lot of people hate how "easy" it is to lose that arm.

IE: I would consider Yenlo just as effective - if not more so, than the other CN9 - but a lot of people disagree with me on that.

Similarly - Ember gets 4B slots - only one other Firestarter gets ballistics - and then just 2B.

Huginn is (similarly) the only raven that gets 4B.

And the X-5 the only missile mounting Cicada.

TLDR: if you like the chassis in general - any of the Heroes are a good investment.
On the other hand - if you do not like the chassis - I would not bother with the hero variant.

Flektran ? You mean Fractal no ?

Anyway nice sale : i was waiting for the Ember.

Fractal yes. I don't know why I keep thinking Flektran. Maybe because I recently acquired it on BF4.

I just wanted to buy the buccaneer camo for some mechs and realized there is no sale on it, even though it should be 35% down according to the sales page. Did I miss something there? I bought the camo for my Banshees without noticing. Already wrote the support, but why wait til at least Monday for an answer...?

Seems a bit of clarification is needed: Buccaneer and Phranken permanent pattern sales apply to FS9, RVN, CDA, CN9 standard variants.

This is so incredibly frustrating! I read about the sale this morning at work, and could not wait to get home and get online as I have been waiting for a sale on the Phraken pattern for quite some time. It is maddening enough that a pattern can only be purchased for a single chasis at a time, at the cost of $7, but to now put a pattern on sale for ONLY certain chasis' really torques me off! REALLY?? If you are going to run a sale, put EXACTLY what is on sale in the content of the marketing information. This approach of luring us in with ill worded or veiled statements so that we find out only later that what can easily be taken as implied turns out to be inaccurate is crap! Your "OUtlaws Sale" page states "35% off PHRAKEN PATTERN" but DOES NOT state that it is only applicable to the chasis' in the sale. This is misleading and a punch in the gut!

The sales page states that the phranken and buccaneer camo are 35% off. There is nothing about "this is only true for the named mechs" anywhere on the page. So either you cancel the sale and re-establish it after making the necessary corrections OR you change it to what the ad actually states: make the camo 35% off in general. A post on the third page of a thread about the sale that I need to use the search function for is NOT the appropriate action here. I have to say, I feel quite a bit cheated right now. Lets see how support handles that issue...

I've been waiting, for a sale like you, to come into my life.

Ember, I am in you. (Almost done eliting it already thanks to PT and 2XP weekend too).

Broke down and bought the Ember. Not a light mech fan, but it's close enough to a medium I can learn to like it. ;)

DAMN! I got the EMBER just in time! How come I aven't received an email announcing that sale? I got one message titled Warhawk Screenshots, Quickdraw Hero, Orion Champion but nothing about that sale and I was looking for the Ember since it's introduction. it's just that I never buy a Hero when not on sale so I don't get angry about myslef later on.

Thanks to Smurfy's MechLab, I saw the box at the top announcing it and was jaw dropped... I see it's on sale since May 9!

Ok I relax now that I own it... wait is over, I'm happy, I'm excited so I must go play!

So I always was dissing on the Huginn when I first saw it come out, 2 Missile and 4 Ballistic is a little Meh, but after piloting the Mech it does have it's merits, I still prefer my ember over it and if the Huginn got one energy slot in the head (To prevent certain energy weapons) I think it would be a much better here, 1 MPL, SPL, or ML can make quite the difference (And if you run out of ammo you are not SOL).

Mostly because a heavy, or even a medium can have similar speed and firepower while having much better survivability due to better twist and turn speed and smaller profiles. But I suppose there are some odd PB lovers out there.

And SRMs are most definitely not working properly.

Like I said many times, the Pretty Baby is one of the best Hero 'mechs just right after the Yen Lo Wang. The TAG in the head with 3 missile hp is one of the best combinations for an assault. 3LRM15A +2MPL +TAG +BAP

Perhaps, but 8R does it way better.
