X5 is one of my favourite mechs in the game and I have 52. I paid full whack and I never regretted it.

Superlative light hunter with medium lasers and streaks or run a sniper with twin PPCs. Hit and run heavys and assaults with quad medium pulse.

Running SRM6s out of twin tubes is actually hilarious and lots of fun :)

True, it's not a super competitive mech, but it has character and has some effective builds.

Not only that, but Cicadas are great fun and feature the competitive ECM variant 3M - so it's a good opportunity to break in to the chassis if you haven't already.

I agree. I bought my X-5 almost a year ago. It's a great light mech repellant. MPL's and 2x Streaks w/BAP and XL 325 is a real headache for most enemy lights. Fast and twitchy, and pilots like a light mech. Great for running escort on your assaults and heavies. Love surprising those ECM spiders with a pasting of pulse lasers and streaks. BAP is a must with streaks imo.

No Death Knell? Guess it would too cheap if you put on sale for 50%. It'd be only 937 give or take.

I bought mine half off when I got it - It'll come around again. :)

Hmm, Hero Raven went on sale real soon.

I wonder why....

Similar could be said of the Ember though....

I would suggest that PGI add "Sale" tags to paints and colors that are on sale. It's kinda of annoying trying to find the right colors.

Do they even know that this is the case? Come on PGI. Let's get this fixed. I would like to purchase this for all of my chassis. Although I think that is a huge rip-off to have to purchase it for each chassis.. at least I can purchase it while it's on SALE if you fix this soon. Having all 29 chassis is expensive for customization.

Don't suppose you could cut me a deal for 29 Phranken patterns in bulk? 29 x 1250(normal price)= 36250 MC.... At least at 35% off it would only be 23562 mc roughly. Depending on how you guys do math for 35% off.

Never buy a hero until it's on sale. :)

Unless you are nuts about the mech... ...nothing would stop me snapping up my Firebrand & Ember! Or every other hero mech that I own. Only need the protector, IV-4, La Malanachawhatsitsaname, grid Iron and pretty baby (Although refuse to buy the sh*tty baby) Excited about the La La rumbawhatsitcalled and IV-4 though.

I wonder if the Huggin would be a good mech to try out one of Konivings 'alternative' builds

The Ember is a vicious little death-machine though. I had been waiting for a sale, but 50% was better than what I was hoping for.

Throw in the 2X XP weekend and I'll have this little ******* mastered in half a day. What a great way to celebrate the end of Finals  B) :D !

Edit: Illegitimate children are censored, but fecal matter isn't. Go figure.

*Paws.* How come? o.O;
It's a Raven! They need love.
Plus it's jumpy and with the way it runs it can't hit anything at all in third person despite being perfectly smooth in first person. And it's adorable!

Seems a bit of clarification is needed: Buccaneer and Phranken permanent pattern sales apply to FS9, RVN, CDA, CN9 standard variants.

Is there a place on this forum where the details of purchasing colors and patterns are explained?

I think there were a couple of good posts in SQSA - but it probably aught to have a guide (with pics) put together >.>

Think I can work on that unless someone else wants to volunteer.

Many different threads in the new player help threads.
This is difference in paint (my post there).
"Single Use" versus "Unlock."

Here we go, one I could quote.

View PostKoniving, on 15 March 2014 - 06:19 PM, said:

Pattern: Single use.

This is a cheap way to put on the pattern and use it. It only works for the mech you have put it on and it's lost when the mech is sold or the pattern is replaced. You can freely change the colors.

Pattern: Unlockable.

This is unlocked for all variants of that chassis. Example, Unlocked Crusader for Hunchbacks. You can use it as much as you want, forever, for any hunchbacks you have or will have.

Pattern: Special

Special patterns from either deals (PCGamer skin) or later on from Community Warfare unlocks.

Pattern: Premium

The more expensive but much more elaborate patterns. These usually have special traits such as shiny materials, unusual reflective surfaces, demons skulls etc.

Premium pattern example. (Modern Edit: It's not the best colors to show it off, see the spoiler below).
Posted Image
Colors.
Basic

C-bill colors. The "free" ones. Permanent. Very dark/dull.

Standard

500 for a permanent color. Modest colors.

Premium/Special

Premium colors much brighter than standard colors. Vibrant, stand-out, shoot me colors.

Special colors belong to the premium patterns. But there isn't much special about them and they are not required.

I can add to it now.
Additional paint and pattern examples in game.

If one has mastered most of the "regular" models of the four above mechs and can fit as needed, is there any one hero model on sale that stands out in effectiveness over any variant, besides the bonus xp and cbills?

Here's what I would use if I had an X-5. Long range sniping with a couple of streaks for short range defense.
