The problem is that we have LRM's that aren't around until 3057.

Unless you are, in your second part, saying to disregard the first statement.. it is possible, just highly improbably to do 350 damage. That means that he landed 319 hits out of 360 missiles fired. To get an 88.6% accuracy on that map means that he probably had the perfect storm of the enemy assaults and heavies standing around in the water without AMS or ECM coverage for most of the match.

*edits to add*

That said, I feel that LRM's are in a good spot right now. Useful without being overpowered unless you were just standing around in the open. Have enough of a threat to have to be mindful of them but not going to melt mechs down on their own unless it is through focus fire or the person was standing around.

Or more likely he's exaggerating :P

The OP revised his claim in a later post, stating it was actually 3 tons of ammo, not 2. Which would still require that his targets be comatose to actually land that many in River City, but is mildly more believable. I think most of us (especially those that have been around since before Elo) have seen drops full of enough brain-dead nitwits to pull it off.

In most matches, you'd expect around 100-200 damage if you had a good team in that build going against a bad team. with a good team on both sides, you'd maybe do under 100 unless you got brawling damage with your secondary weapons

Since we're dealing with such undeniable proof, my Thunderbolt 9S has seen 8 matches so far. Because it has 2 AMS, it has won every single match. This obviously means that with dual AMS it's impossible to lose.

Seriously, if you did 350 damage with using only those 360 LRMs, you had the luckiest match of your life.

Or everyone stood still in the wide open 300m in front of him. Seriously though I don't believe this

I wasn't sure how good the Ember would be when I got it but I've been finding it especially adept at blowing up LRM boats (literally) thanks to it's MGs and most LRM boats carrying their ammo in their legs. :P

The fact that so many are sitting waaaaaay in the back just makes it all the more fun because help won't arrive in time lol.

As for my heavies, I stopped carrying AMS and really haven't noticed a difference. Just gotta learn how to move and what'll block missiles, and what won't.

I think I should go on an Anecdote mission...

First it'll be triple LBX and then I'll come make a post at how easy-mode they are.. no warning, don't even really have to aim.. it's a shotgun, and ballistic speed...

Then I'll do large lasers
Then maybe I'll just go down the whole line and create a single anecdote as to why they're all easy mode...

(And don't forget.. I'll add an extra 50% of the damage.)

Any Hunchback that stands on a hill in River City and just fires LRMs lasts less than 30 seconds in any match I have recently played, but your ELO may be far different. You seem to have no problem with instant and pinpoint alphas that do 30-40+ points with a single push of a button with direct fire, yet somehow think that a similar damage potential from a delayed and easily countered LRM mech is OP. Sadly, just another LRM whine thread.

Yeah the lrm boats that sit at the other side of the map from there allies , I like to think the lrm stands for long range morons .ECM - extreme crutch mechs , But I digress.

Hey guys, I playtested one match, got a lucky result, and decided to make a thread titled "It's Official".

Much wow. So logic.

Things an LRM mech generally doesn't need to worry about:
- Positioning

With LRMs you have to worry about your position (missiles are quite useless if fired on a hill/building/friendlies' backs) and the position of your target (no use firing at an enemy that has the possibility to get in cover from LRMs quickly).

In case you don't understand what I'm saying: I don't think LRMS are easy mode because of any kills they get or OPness. They are easy mode because all you do is sit there and click without any sort of thinking or aiming.

Reminds me of poptarting. Or Brawling. Or....well pretty much any gameplay style.

This isn't a very difficult game. There is a single crosshair where everything converges instantly.

LRM spamming is easy, regardless how it is done.

Too bad the general masses in PUGS have the tactical sense of a monkey with a hand-grenade.
