We don't need PGI to do campaigns or strategy. Players are now doing that themselves, including Stock Mech Mondays, and some meta-game campaigns. NGNG is also talking about setting up their own strategic maps and having the battles in MWO, but turn based strategy on the larger scale.
How are they doing this?
The most significant changes are the addition of private matches.
However, there are some extra details. If you want to run it with just 1v1, or 6v6, ect, then both players need to have a premium account. Otherwise you need 24 players.
If you want to pick the map and weight restrictions, only one team leader needs a premium account.
If you just want a 12v12 on a random map, then get 23 friends and go for free because at that point it is just a normal game like pugging.
Also, there is a game change so we will have 3 lights, 3 mediums, 3 heavies, and 3 assaults in each team, but it wasn't working. Right now that is not in the game yet, but will be soon when it is patched.
P.S. The Flea is most likely DOA. We've got the Locust now, which, lets be honest, the Flea was always meant to be a fake stand in for the Locust in the first place.
