Try averaging 500 dmg with lrms it can be done , If your teams good if not , You'll struggle . I wont change the way I want to play because my load out relys somewhat on a team with a higher combined IQ then a vegetable .
Well, I've been piloting my old trusty Catapult A1 lately (I just adore the looks and it's the 2nd mech I ever bought, so even with the ghetto launcers strapped to it's ears I still love it) and yes, it can be done with LRMs. The only build I've used since stat reset has been 6x LRM5, and after 231 matches it now has 1.62 W/L ratio, 4.05 K/D ratio and has done an average of 556.9 damage per match. I haven't had dedicated spotters in my team save from some randoms from PUG lottery - if your team doesn't get you locks, you just have to try and get them yourself.
Honestly, I think it's one of the easier ways to get lots of damage. And getting lots of damage is easier than getting lots of kills, which would of course be even more efficient for getting wins.

I just started 2 months ago, and while I've managed to get my KDR up to .45 from the .14 it was after my first month ( while I know KDR isn't the be all end all stat, I do think its indicative of my skill level being higher now), my average start to an evening is losing 9 out of my first ten games, usually 2/3-12. I ragequit over it twice, now I guess I'm just numb to it. It's not a question of getting better, I have. But you're implying I need to get good enough to carry my team, every game? Seriously?
If you want to win significantly more than lose, you pretty much need to become the factor that can carry a team. Other than that, when your elo is finally normalized at it's proper place, you SHOULD average roughly the same amount of wins and losses over a longer period of time.
Looking back, it took me almost a year to learn and play the game somewhat properly. I was bad. And I'm not one of the greats now, likely never will be. Maybe you'll catch on much faster.
When you lose a game, I'd concentrate on thinking what you could've done better, because that is what you can improve on. There's little you can do to make your team play better, so concentrating on what the team should've done better is usually waste of time and just makes you angry and bitter.
