same hardpoints just opposite so you pick a chasis and then deside a "lefthanded" mech or a "righthanded" mech
examples:
Yen-Lo-Wang with the AC20 in the left hand
atlas with left balistics right missile points

I would think that weapons would be in the left hand first anyway. Left to right etc. etc.

BLR is the south paw.

There be left (i.e. SHD and BLR) and right centric Mechs available and so i would prefer PGI to spend their precious dev time on stuff of urgent priority.

This right here sits right on that line.
I personally don't like the idea much. It would be kinda fun to have, but it'd also remove a lot of uniqueness from the different chassis. Though, I usually don't care which side my 'mechs favor anyways.

Actually a lot of the uniqueness is already absent given the lack of sized hard points. This is actually not a bad idea, or at least it would be nice if there were more options for "left-handed" mechs. There are certainly some, and it's not so much that left-handed players cannot learn to use a mech configured for a right-hander, as much as it would be nice not to be forced to.
Left-handed people have to adjust to using many objects in a backwards configuration in everyday life (scissors, can openers, cars, keyboard/mouse configurations, etc.)the list is quite long if you think about it), and do it just fine. In fact I run a HOTAS setup made for a right-hander because that's all there is. Sometimes it would be nice to not be the ones forced to adapt just because most people don't think in the same way.
Overall though, I don't see this happening, which is why I give great credit to the Shadowhawks and the Misery for being designed with the main cannon on the left side!
The Thunderbolts and Battlemasters don't truly count, as the stock configurations were clearly designed right-handed. The stock versions just had energy weapons (PPCs/LLs) as the "big-gun
on the right, and left arm machine guns.

Just to clarify, the bit about 'part of being a good pilot' was in no way directed specifically at left-handers, I personally have a lot of trouble with asymmetrical mechs. Given the choice, I'd probably mirror all my right-sided mechs just to match my primary weapons with the LMB. I reflexively tank damage with my right side anyways.
The added challenge of using my weapon positions properly would be missed, but not much. It'd be aptly replaced by the challenge of figuring out which side of that Atlas to shoot.
It would be a nice thing to have, maybe we can convince PGI to introduce custom HUD colors in the same patch.
Then again, if it takes them 6 months to change 2 lines of XML...

Of course, it's extremely questionable that it's really worth doing... Considering what else the game could use.

BattleMechs were meant to be convertible from right to left handed.

I'm left handed, and although having My guns on the right doesn't stop Me from playing the game, I've been bitching about this for a while now.
I love My Centurion-A, but I love My Thunderbolt-5S more. Why? Because I could turn it into a left-handed centurion!
Even if it was MC (Real money) only for left-handed mechs, I'd do it. And I'm a NOPE'r. Dead serious, Give Me a left-handed Cent-A, or Phract-3D, and I'll give pgi money.

I'm right handed, having weapons on the left side of Mech doesn't make them any more difficult to use - I'm still just using my right hand to click the buttons.
Just seems like there's a near infinite amount of things that PGI should work on before getting around to something like this.

I'm sure there's at least 1 other example I've come across, but that was the most prominent and recent one.
