Let's be honest here. That means it's a videogame based on the BattleTech IP. Doesn't mean it has a lick to do with the boardgame, roleplaying game, or anything else resembling a game. Just that it uses trademarked words and terms. B)

Though mostly true, It does IMPLY that they are making a game that should hold true to the Universe the IP created. That does not mean it should Blindly follow the TT rules, but FEEL like a game from the BattleTech Universe. Just as a Star Wars game has to feel like Start Wars!

Now will PGI give us a game that feels like the BattleTech STORY?

For clarification:
MechWarrior is video game series set in the BattleTech universe.
Hence why MechWarrior Online is labelled as: A BattleTech Game.

The addition of this now is merely to resolve the outstanding issue that it hadn't been labelled as such before.
As many are aware, the games have a deeply symbiotic relationship for many players beyond simply being different franchise spin-offs. They are entirely different and lasting perspectives at involving players in the BT Universe.

I remember of a once "young" Niko that posted something like that in the feedback thread of the "newly added JJ shake".

Those were the days...

I don't know if they own it, but nobody does "Soon™" better than Valve. I mean, I'm still waiting for Half-Life 2: Episode 3 (never mind Half-Life 3).

If pgi goes episodic release model I'm so totally blaming you.

You're all missing the biggest positive in this: they didn't break a single thing with this update.

Really?
Since last patch I have encountered:
- First time I try entering Training Grounds, I may get stuck with a permanent Connecting Screen and have to use Windows Task Manager to shutdown the client to leave then restart the game.
- All my weapon groups got reset, sometimes they keep getting reset every time I start the game.
- Once found an enemy Mech FLOATING above the HPG Manfold map in the sky. He fell once I launched LRMs at him. Hate to see his fall damage.
- Had a couple of rubberbanding moments.

I hate too say it but closed Beta was great I loved it. The game as it is now lacks what it had back then They better wake up soon or realize those founders and BT fans will one day no longer be there helping the game.

I agree korn...bought founders....bought phx packages...bought about 20000 mc, but with the state of the game, srm hit detection, lack of community warfare, lack of regard by the developers for the players, the one thing I desperately wanted was clan mech of my own....but sadly I refuse to give them even one more dime until they actually deliver on some crap around here.

Bad enough that they are pumping up saying heyyyyy come fight the clans when CW drops, except Comstar defeats the clans in June here...wars over everyone pack ya stuff and go home lol

Haven't any of you seen a Hollywood movie with the premise of, "based on a true story?"

Same **** here...

It's a total distortion of what BT is actually like.

MWO feels more like that other F2P robot game, whose name I cannot think of right now....

MWO does not feel like a Mechwarrior game.....

I remember summer before last, stumbling upon a game site where the developers said they were trying to make a new MechWarrior game, one that stayed as true to TT as possible in a real-time video game. They asked for some money to help fund the game, and I provided.

Since, they've dropped all pretence of trying to stay true to TT (GECM is just one example) or indeed the larger BT Universe (Ghost heat, heat system in general, pinpoint accuracy, front-loaded damage, I could go on and on...).

MWO has never been further from being "a BattleTech game" than it currently is, and the direction they're heading doesn't seem to be changing.

Slapping that "a BattleTech game" on there means just one thing - that there's a license clause somewhere that forced them to display it. It does absolutely NOT mean that MWO has anything even remotely to do with the BattleTech Universe (although to be fair it does still have some ties to it - "loosely based on" I think someone said, and that's pretty apt).

I created a post in the middle of closed beta with several complaints. It actually got a reply from a GM.

Essentially, they told us they were not making "a Battletech game." They were making a MECHWARRIOR game set in the Battletech IP, but it was NOT "a Battletech game." Since that point they've made all kinds of moves away from BT, some make sense and some don't.

We got told to find something else if we wanted a Battletech experience, and now recently they've stuck that tagline up at the top. This isn't a Battletech game. It's barely even using the original IP fiction at this point.

What part of "staying true to the TT AS POSSIBLE" did you not understand in that original statement? Real time game play and TT game play are always going to be at odds with each other, there two completely different systems, core things like weapons and equipment might translate a little better then RNG vs actual humans behind the controls.

They have been actually doing quite well, Clans are not overly op FLD gods like they would of been in TT with there targeting computers and super long range pulse lasers (lots of bonuses to hit basically).

There are reasons the Mech Assault games were generally regarded as "ok games, but not Battletech/Mechwarrior games", Lava Cannons being only the most obvious of them...
