Should be introducing all the clan mech's together. Add one, Balance, Add Another, Balance, Add Another, Balance is such a waste of time. If you can't add multiple chassis's or weapons at the same time than the calculations you guys are making to only change half of them show's how badly designed this game is. Game is still a write-off.

Fun Fact: Community Warfare is said to be September, the part we all care about anyways.

Clans are going to hit in June, and right after that should be part 2 of the Launch Module, which could be an array of different things, like Unit Association. Once all that rolls in, we should get Attack Defend game mode, a few more maps, before the Star Map shows up for CW to be official.

fun fact: every time pgi says these things are going to come we get features we didn't want like 3pv, balance that's ludicrous like ghost heat and stuf that comes out broken and takes many months to fix anyways like advance zoom 9 months to fix, missles and hit detection 1 year + and counting, enabling filter views and smurfy layout in UI.20 3 months and counting.

expect another year at least for these tweaks to be done before even considering stuff like affiliation-association to happen. Brian said at the sept launch such things were for the new year... we're already halfway through the year with russ's ominous state of post:

Quote

The only items really remaining from the Community Warfare pillar are two items, although pretty big ones. They are what we can call “Association” which is further connecting factions and the idea of Loyalty points and “Inner Sphere Planetary Conquest” which of course is competing over territory. I have not listed off dates for these systems because we don’t have as precise of estimates quite yet. But we can for the first time based on the January-April development schedule provide a more accurate estimation then we have in the past. Below are some conservative estimates of the remaining Community Warfare features that I think we can probably beat.

Conservative Estimates:
- Association: July-Aug
- Planetary Conquest: Sept-Oct

Confidence is very high that worst case scenario is the completion of the entire Community Warfare feature set as we currently understand it by Early to Mid-fall.

so when 3/3/3/3 is now a long term fix do you really thing CW is gonna happen this september? Association and loyalty points by august? i swear they got the 2018-2020 extension on the license cos that's how long it's going to take to get the game built. would love to be proven wrong but PGI say many things but what actually happens is totally different.

Engines locked. Armor TYPE and internal structure TYPE locked - however you CAN add or subtract armor POINTS.

Note that clan XL engines require both side torsos to be destroyed for you to die. They can survive one lost side.

how about weapons are they also locked?

Nope. Well, yes, and no. There are hardpoints but you can take a ballistic arm of a variant for a given chassis and replace an energy arm of another variant of the same chassis. If the hardpoint option exists for the mech, you can swap it out with that part. Customize your own hardpoint layout.

Funner Fact: They've been saying it's six months away every six months since 2012.

I was waiting for the interactive Smurfy-like mechlab before I pre-ordered. At least this way I know I have a few months to grind C-bills before they are available for regular purchase.

Now I just hope they aren't 24 million Cbills each, for mechs balanced against the IS mechs.....

I know, that be kinda dumb...

Is there going to be separate matches for clan 'Mechs, or they going to be put in the public matches?

There really isn't any information about how they will structure the matches.

Actually, IIRC the only thing they confirmed in posts and /or podcasts was that we can "redistribute" armor... that could very easily just mean moving armor from back to front with no net difference in total points.

Just want to say... that feels so painfully cash-grab. 6 months of access for cash before it's available in game for earning. 2 weeks, even a month is one thing. 6 months.... that's a bit past 'p2w' territory.

Totally killed what interest I had in it and hope that it would turn out well. Totally and completely. The irony is that as other games (Hawken, WoT) have moved away from P2W territory you guys are moving towards it.

Not cool. At this point if I do like clan tech and decide you did well in developing and balancing it I'd be shelling out cash for effectively 6 months of exclusive access. Wouldn't matter if it was $5 or $500, that's not a game design concept I can even pretend to support.

Very much not cool.

If early access is now somehow P2W, then there is essentially no such thing as a non-P2W F2P game.....

I dont understand something about clan mechs:
Do they come with locked engines? Does that mean one cannot change the engine size? Or change it at all, from XL to standard?
Is the armor also locked?
Weapons?

Let's wait and let Clan Pack buyers test them for us. As far as I know PGI/IGP doesn't guarantee that tech specs of Clan Mechs purchased in packages won't be altered, so buyers are going to work as Beta Testers, and all Clan-related mechanics are subject to change.

A couple weeks early access? That's fine. 6 months though? Is there another game I'm unaware of where you pay a couple hundred dollars to get 6 months exclusive access for content? Not talking about unlocking something a few days or even a couple of weeks early. I'm talking 6 months.

In that case rejoice about that fact that it is only 5 months from June to November where the last of those Mechs gets available for CBills.

And it's 8 weeks after launch that you can get your hand on your first Clanmech for CBills...

Most of this seems reasonable. Still i dont know why it takes so damn long to just release at least the Variants we can expect which is the biggest deal besides the Clan-Tech and placing such an announcment isn't a big deal really! Except you dont know yourself yet which would be absolutely devastating imho.

You bought the phoenix package right? Didn't you notice they said nothing about variants prior to release? With that in mind, we'll know the variants only upon release. PGI is clearly keeping it under wraps.

A single Atlas Mech costs around ~ 10.000.000 C-bills. Clan Tech is much more expensive...(Mech itself + also weapons). Therefore I "expect" that a 100 ton Daishi would cost around ~ 30.000.000 Cbills. Other Clan Mechs will be cheaper though the have less tonnage, but you can also expect "high" prices which are far above of what you would pay for IS Mechs - like for a Hunchback or JägerMech.

I'm thinking it would likely be 20-25m for direwolf, and 7-10m for kit fox. They'll likely drop the price.

60 bucks is reasonable for an entire clan pack. 240? Insane. No thanks. Not gonna happen. You EARN money the old fashioned way. That isn't earning it.

60 bucks for 24 mechs and 24 mechbays, of which 8 gives cbill boosts just like the hero mechs? $2.50 per mech+bay? mcdonalds meals cost more, and you crap them out after eating...

Mad Cat: First Clan Mech that the IS encountered. Doesn't show up for 6 months after "The Clan Invasion has begun!" Hm. This kills all of my interest in the Clan Invasion. Not just the Mad Cat, the whole thing.

They do show up on the 2nd week of june. With most seeing the timberwolf as THE face of clans who wouldn't take them out for a ride? Those who pay cash for them will be the ones riding them in june, the rest of us will have to wait.

I'm of a different thought. If i spent $30 on the kit fox package i'd want my kit fox exclusive a month longer (that includes mc release). $30 for 1 month exclusivity is too short to me.
As for your claims of exclusivity being pay-to-win, let me remind you that the term "pay-to-win" is as it says, pay to win. Thus, purchasing something that is exclusive for yourself cannot be pay-to-win unless said exclusive item helps you to win regardless of conditions. An example of that would be ac100: 1200-3600 range; 5 tons; 5 crits; 3 heat; reload 2ms and 3000 projectile speed; paid for with credit card only.
As for the clans, though we know that pgi plan to nerf them to around IS level, we can only tell the actual result when they are played on servers from june. If you want to know whether clan tech will be pay-to-win, you'll have to wait until clan release to find out.

If it were a couple of weeks I - and I suspect many others - wouldn't have paid up front, we would have waited.

You want them earlier, you buy them. It seems reasonable to me. There is plenty of free content available for those who won't pay for the game they're playing.

just out of curiosity, where is the community warfare that we were supposed to get at the original game release?

Where's the VoIP?

Faction Loyalty points anyone?

Feels like we're missing a few minor things here, but at least we know when our gold plated mechs are coming out!

I don't believe you could sell pieces of CW for $500.
Or VOIP for that matter.
Or anything else you stated.
I know those questions were kind of rhetorical but I just couldn't help myself.
