Well I don't hate the game, if that was the case I wouldn't still be playing it, and its cool that you wish to support it. The reason I have a founders tag is the same, a desire to see an awesome BT/MW game come out after so many years. You are braver than me though, to put more money in at this point, especially as there is now an established track record of PGI's design decisions regarding this game. I keep hoping for that series of patches that fix so much and make the game what everyone from the begining hoped it could be, though I do have a lot of sad resignation that we may never see that.

And don't be to hard on those that come to the forum to complain. Someone who comes here to raise a concern they have (however valid everyone else considers it) at least may be doing so in the hopes of it being addressed, and they may remain a player. Better a little complaining on the forum than people just giving up and leaving and deleting the game from their computer.

I want to buy this package, but I am a little concerned about it only being available to PUG drops if you are not clan. Its a lot to shell out for Mechs you can't use.

That's the problem. They have not answered this question period as far as I know. Someone in a different thread said something along the lines of that.

Brian tweeted that IS people could think of them as spoils of war... but then in a vlog, there were talking about balancing clan tech and IS tech. That a "fall back" would be 10 v 12, but that can't do that if there are Clan mechs on both sides of the fight.

I dont hate this game (if you can call it that) or I wouldnt still play it nearly every day. But the reality is some parts of MWO feel like they belong in a pre-alpha demo rather than a finished product. The gamemodes in particular are completely unrefined, unpolished, and outright awful. Role warfare, which was cited as being one of the game's major design pillars, is completely non-existent whatsoever. The worst part is, instead of way more important aspects of the game getting attention, the community has become so focused on Community Warfare as a catharsis for their emotional outrage at PGI, that CW is now PGI's top priority. Anyone with half a brain could tell you CW will address zero of the game's major issues.

While this is true, I find the simplest solutions are usually the best ones to stick with until proven otherwise.

Considering everything kicked up by 3/3/3/3, I doubt they will want to mess with MM any more between finishing that off and the clan Mechs being released. I think separating the queues based clan vs IS is very unlikely on the Preorder launch. Even if the packs are immensely popular, I cannot see enough clan players to fill the games on the clan packs alone. Assuming they would, how would they do it? by chosen Mech? by chosen faction? If the latter, would the clans finally get their forum icons? If so, which clans?

The entire train of thought leads to more what-ifs and questions than answers.

Phase one of CW is focused entirely on recognising the existence of units in the game environment. I've interpreted that essentially as the bare bones of a system like the guilds from MMOs. Specifically they are doing this for the merc units, not even confirmation of the house ones, if you want to take it word for word. And we know that will not be in before the clan mechs. Suddenly separating the clan players ahead of this would be jumping the gun a little, don't you think?

In short, the clan players haven't even been given ingame symbols like Steiner, Kurita, Davion etc. Come the release of the preorder Mechs they *still* might not even get them. They've had forums and that's it since closed Beta.

At the very least, I think I can comfortably predict you will be enjoying (or dreading) at least a couple of months of mixed IS/Clan drops regardless of what else is coming down the line.

Just a reminder oblivion. .. you have been here for under 2 months so keep your wisdom to the timeframe you can vouch for.... everything else is just trolling. You haven't been here since beta, you weren't even a phoenix package owner. .. just a reminder when you get trolling that you are not a MWO vet like you try to play as on the forums.

Could be another account, this certainly isn't the account I used during closed beta.

Its really the open ended nature that bothers me the most. I get the distinct impression they don't even know, nor have they asked these same questions of themselves.

If they don't have a clear plan, and its a free for all to begin with, they are going to have a very hard time separating the Queues after that. The will have hundreds of IS people who purchased Clan mechs, have been using clan mech in their drops who are suddenly going to be faced with never playing their Clan mechs again, or going over to the Clan side. If anything it makes the most sense to be the other way around. Start off with the drops segregated and slowly allow IS people to use their mechs in drop. They could even have achievements tied to the ability to bring Clan mechs into their CW drops, such as "Destroy a Mad Cat in game that is less than 25% damaged" reward "You have unlocked Mad Cats in your CW drops" or something to that effect.

I can understand that. I get the feeling that a noticeable part of the community share that uncertainty and uneasiness surrounding the clan pack, purely due to the lack of hard information.

When they released the C-bill MC schedule I had to stop a knee-jerk reaction to post "When we said we wanted information, this is not what we meant!".

I've invested simply because I know I will play the Mechs regardless, even in the current state of the game. I'm in the same camp as Locust or Awesome players in that regard. (Un)fortunately for me, I see 97Kph lights and ghost heat Mediums in my future, meta or my W/L ratio be danged.

I looked at it from the systems we already have in place. There is nothing to suggest switching between clans and inner sphere factions will be any more difficult than changing factions is right now. You are correct however that once clan mechs are out, It is almost guaranteed that there is no putting the genie back in the bottle.

Potentially, we will see what was announced for the IS houses regarding Mechs and faction play. Meaning as and when economy influence is introduced far, far down the line, clans will get sizeable discounts on clan technology the same way Kurita will get cheaper dragons or something similar.

Maybe I will be surprised and I am underestimating the upcoming content but here is what I am expecting on release day:

- Clan Mechs
- Possibly icons for the main four clans

That's the length and breadth of what I put my admittedly small amount of money towards. No grand inclusion of Clans vs IS, 10 v 12 or anything of the sort. Perhaps I'll be proven wrong and pleasantly surprised.

Either way, we're back into speculative territory. We will have to wait and see. I really wish they would not leave either of us in suspense. I'm just putting the thought out there that silence doesn't mean your nightmare scenario implementation is slowly looming over the horizon.

It always makes me chuckle when i see the people that say they want to fight pgi with their wallets. Unless someone was able to pull off a mass boycott a few forum trolls aren't going to hurt the company.

The social rewards for Clan Packs has moved from 70% to 75% of Phase 1 (of four) in the last week and we are now less than one month from the release of this content. The Timberwolf Gold Khan pack is the only one with "less than 50 remaining!"

I would say things are not going as well as PGI planned for Clan Packs or the social rewards would be much further along and the Gold Khan packs would be sold out.

exaggerating maybe, but not without a reason... enjoy your clanpack, i don´t mean that in a bad sense ... i did my part and spend way enough money into a 2 years long balancing job and really not much else...

We'll see what happens. Of course, PGI has complete control of those rewards so they could always just bump it to Phase 4 at the end regardless of how many they sell.

I'm fairly certain that whatever they announce in the final runup to the injection will make or break sales.

Most of the clan packs are pretty big investments for stuff that we are still very uncertain about. It's even worse than the Phoenix pack, since we're talking weapons and mechanics - e.g. Targeting Comps - that we currently know effectively nothing about.

Another thing I feel leery about is how wide most of the models are. When you think about it, most of the stuff in this game which spreads damage well is tall and thin. Wide mech seems to equal easy target - not to mention the sizes of the arms, and the fact that most of them store a lot of their firepower there.

I am personally sorely tempted to pick up either the Black Hawk or the Stormcrow. Afraid of ghost heat on the Nova? Stuff it full of ER Small lasers instead and go to town! Still, I'm holding off for more details. No details, no purchase.

Good for you!

Still on the fence for the clans (I only want my Direwolf and Timberwolf)...
