Repost due to button mashing error: Alright everyone. Matchmaking numbers continued to spike with Rule of Three's. So we are adjusting this Class Limit to a maximum of 4s. This means any of the following variations of weight classing will be possible:

3/3/3/3
4/3/3/2
4/4/3/1
4/4/2/2
4/4/4/0
etc..

We are going to see how this works out, there remains a strong possibility we will have to further increase this maximum or altogether shut off the class limits and revert back to group limits in the interim, so please stay tuned here. We are playing by ear on this one as we build the data. Thanks again for standing by.

Holy sh*t

this is wonderous news, I hope it works well

Why isn't a straight tonnage limit being used?

Because it would likely make for even worse wait times than 3/3/3/3.

And if they were chosen in a lobby ala League of Legends - who gets stuck being forced to run a commando because the rest of your team wanted to play heavy/assault?

(I actually have a theory based around tonnage limits for each lance etc which I've posted b4 - but 3/3/3/3 is a good start)

I imagine the problem is not enough players at all times of the day? Maybe make the range of mechs scale based on the current server load. At primetime 3 might work, at low times maybe it stretchs all way up to 5 or something.

Well... I'm glad I got my play time in last night instead of counting on any games today...

I'll be over in Space Engineers while you get your act together yet again...

Dunno if anyone has pointed this out yet, but the new firestarter champion does not have a buy button, nor is it listed in the champion mech list. I've confirmed this with multiple other clan members.

Champions don't go on sale for a week or two after their release. They are only playable as Trials the first week.

The one exception is the Champion is included in the starter pack for the Firestarter.

That's common. It'll go for sale next week.

For Kerensky.. You are the best of the best Koniving. I would vote you for another Star League award.. And i swear when the Clans invade i will make a video with that music and the Voice of Kerensky.. It will be the most epic thing you will have ever experienced :)

You should ask George (the voice actor aka Duncan Fisher) first. He seems to be very happy to do any projects, but as it's his voice it's only proper to ask first.

But that covered, then we can make one together.

Someone I helped during his start into MWO last year said that he saw a post where I said I wouldn't be able to get the Clan mechs.
It was mentioned that it would be a shame if I would not be able to provide help for players using Clan mechs, and when I accepted I was under the impression of "one Clan mech."

He was so overly generous in his 'thank you' for what he called being "a pillar helping to build the community" that when I read "It is done," I checked to see what mech either via package or Al La Carte I'd be getting.

...and then promptly spit coffee all over my TV monitor and was quick to both express gratitude and ask if perhaps there was a mistake.
Spoiler

Lets just say I won't have much trouble getting Lordred to do screenshots of the Clan mechs, nor will I have issues helping out in such a video (as I was planning to do it myself anyway).
--------

This community, both in its newer members and long standing Battletech fans, is amazing and there is great potential in it. Sometimes I wish PGI and IGP could take a step back and realize it, then develop the game with us in mind.

Whoa...dude...so...like...a full lance of equally tonned mechs? But that resembles...lore...

*hugs Niko, sobbing uncontrollably*

Edit: Jumped the gun...not nearly as cool as I'd hoped. Backend still.

Except that a "Standard Lance" is 1 Light, 1 Medium, and 2 Heavy mechs and Lance designations are based on the average tonnage of all mechs. Lances in lore are rarely made up of a single weight class.

They tend to 'exist' for 2 weeks before allowing it to be bought. This has been an on-going trend, actually.

Following 3/3/3/3's release, our engineers took advantage of the changes introduced to run a series of tests with different maximum limits per class. This first started by increasing the limit from 3 to 4, then 5, 6 and onwards until we reached max 12. At this stage, we had found issues which suggest that we must re-investigate the algorithm further. It is worth noting similar issues could be encountered with any other rules system imposed on the matchmaker and have more to do with the increased complexity of that matchmaker system.

In the long run, to me, it sounds like matching the total weights between two teams within a 10 ton difference would have been both significantly easier and marginally more successful than going by 'classes'.

It is good to know PGI is working very hard on this issue.

Well... I have to hand it to PGI. They beat me in a race on whether I could finish unloading my dishwasher before I found a match. It took 6 minutes to find a match but they won! I am calling for a rematch. With such long waits for matches we need to help our fellow mechwarriors think of things to do while waiting for matches and then composes a top 10 list. Someone suggested brushing your teeth. Maybe PGI can start a campaign with various groups to help mechwarriors occupy this free time to make them healthier and more productive. How about pushups and/or situps while waiting? Sad... really sad.

You need to stop the 3/3/3/3 non-sense. It apparently has not worked, does not work, and will not work. Setting tonnage limits makes more sense and would be easier to implement. With matchmaking trying to figure the 3/3/3/3, ELO, and whatever non-sense it is making wait times unnecessarily long.

So..... I noticed that the new matchmaker takes less time to find a match if you pay attention to the pop up under the launch button. Great feature! A pop up that tells what percentage of chasis types are being played and suggests what kind of chasis will result in faster matchmaker times. Not only that, we also have the option of forming private matches with friends using mechs of any size, weight and chasis type. You can also customize map selection and game mode in these private matches.

However, shame on you PGI for being the only game developer willing to create this game that we all love to ***** about and yet continue to play.. Not only that. How dare you work so hard to give your clients a timeline of content release, deliver said content (with some minor delays) and still put up with the constant nay say.

I LOVE THIS GAME! !
I LOVE THE PATCH!!
YAY 3/3/3/3!

This is shockingly bad. So much blank, grey metal where there should be paint. Weapon models are just totally out of scale. The arms look like absolute trash.

Good lord. Did someone bang this out on their lunch break while working on the (admittedly amazing) clan mechs? I just don't understand the disparity of quality between this and what we've seen of the Adder, Kitfox, etc. The modellers CAN do some great stuff. So why the hack-job on the poor, unloved Treb?

Does 3/3/3/3 or any variation of that simply encourage playing the heaviest mech in that weight class? Is there a huge difference between a 75 and 80 ton mech?
