And don't you think, that win against team with heavier and stronger mechs is more interesting, than just destroy same team as your own?

This first started by increasing the limit from 3 to 4, then 5, 6 and onwards until we reached max 12. At this stage, we had found knock-on issues which suggest that we must re-investigate the algorithm further. It is worth noting similar issues could be encountered with any other rules system imposed on the matchmaker and have more to do with the increased complexity of that matchmaker system. [/color]

[color=#00FFFF]Class limits are now, once more disabled in the backend. News on Matchmaker will continue to be released as we draw closer and closer to having something that is not only stable and fair to the players and teams, but also provides reasonable wait times. [/color]



Shouldn't this have been done on a test server first? Releasing it onto the actual server system while claiming this is a game in full release mode is insane. We are no longer Beta Testers.

The bad news is that noone can join a match now to verify. Instead, please enjoy yourself shopping for more useless cockpit items while waiting for content or fixes.

Beacause when it's done on the test server people complain about it not lasting long enough or not enough players. It's damned if they do, damned if they don't.

Niko announced here that the matchmaker will return to pre-patch status as of 3pm PT/6PM ET. No downtime is necessary.

Ok I see they have stopped the 3333 thingy again (What is up wit that? Who cares if there are 3 of each type?) but I'm still waiting 20+ mins to get in a match. Now they shewed us outs the patch tech problem forum because they said it was cuz o 3333 (I think this is the sigh of the 1/2 devil) so where can we whine about this now? I actually saw the sun today and that can NEVER happen again, I need this fixed.

Good luck Devs... you've got your work cut out for you. I'd recommend more public testing to resolve these issues before being implemented for the public as a whole.

... oh well, 3 games in 3 hours, that leaves me with a lot of time to go through old songs.

Well this is... interesting reading. Based on the timing of Niko's posts vs my wait times, it looks to me like 4x3 with 1-group/team max worked the best. Witness:

1:30p CDT, Assault (31%), 3:30 wait.
1:47p CDT, Assault (27%), 1:00 wait.
1:59p CDT, Assault (24%), 2:15 wait.
+/-2:15p CDT: Niko posts that they've relaxed 4x3 to include max of 4 per class
2:10p CDT, Assault (27%), 7:30 wait. much improved, no?
2:37p CDT, Assault (26%), 18:40 wait. how much better could it get?
3:13p CDT, Assault (25%), 7:50 wait. you're slipping, PGI...
+/-3:40p CDT: Niko posts that limits are being lifted again.
3:38p CDT, Assault (28%), 42:40 wait. NOW we're cooking with gas!

I enjoy this game, and have spent more on it than any other game I've played, and potentially more than I have on r/w hobby stuff at this point... hadn't considered that 'til now. At any rate, I just want to get in match reliably, quickly and with people who also enjoy the game. That's all. Imbalance is merely a challenge to adapt to and overcome.

PGI, thank you for the improvements to the match-maker.

I will now have time to catch up on all the fine Russian literature I keep putting off for lack of time while I wait to get into a drop while using the 'optimum' mech selection to 'reduce wait time'. If I use something other than the optimum mech I anticipate getting through four or five chapters per drop.

I have begun to consider taking up knitting as a hobby once I have caught up with my reading.

Really ... one short coming? That is one way to put it. Another would be, one more bad patch with 3/3/3/3 and it can compete with the 4 times PGI has told us CW in 90 days. lol Oh well, everyone make sure that you upgrade or buy your Clan Packages. PGI might even let you know what the bonus modules are before the Clan Packages roll out next month.

Yeah, I'm not very patient with MM wait times. I'd rather cancel and retry frequently rather than sit and watch the wheel spin.

On the other hand, I got two matches in the hour or so I attempted to play, so ...
