That won't really fix the population distribution and what Elo brackets people will end up. It'll just result in the same thing, but it'll take time to get there.

well... as expected that "balancing" dont work at all...
I choosed the suggested mesh type (one time medium and one light) and had waiting times longer than 7 minutes. Only to get into matches that felt way more unbalanced than before that patch.

I dont know why they think the balancing is based on tonnage or chassis-type. Thats just stupid.
Balancing is based on loadout and strategic role.

A ecm mech gets always a important role - no matter in which tonnage or chassis.
Also LRM meshs - no matter if its a Heavy Catapult or a Assault Stalker.
For an extreme example - you can get a team consisting of
3 lights with ecm and/or tag and/or narc that scout and mark the enemies
3 mediums - same options - ecm support or tag - maybe even damage dealing
3 heavys with lrm
3 assaults with lrm
on a open map - want to guess how long the enemy team survives ?

so the MM has to balance the amount of ecm , tag and lrm to make balanced matches - just my oppinion

I think it's definitely the Shads, and to a lesser extent Griffins. They totally revolutionized the medium class and maybe even the game as a whole.

Hit and run is how I see light pilots who don't die in the first 3 minutes of my games playing. It is how I play, I don't often run the circle of death except against certain loadouts because against people who can aim the circling light winds up being the dead one.

To the end user, what does it matter? They are going to be equally angry if they cant find a match because of a bad code, or a bad matchmaking scheme. Sure, they may be able to fix the code, but if you alienate the players with two bad implementations, they may not want to be a guinea pig for a third round of testing.

The idea is good in theory but its causing qeue times of upwards of 20 minutes. i don't care if the idea is good, if i have to wait 20 minutes between matches. then i'm not sticking around....i have better things to do

Just got in with a medium (preffered wait time) and it took me 15 min.

A hot patch to disable the 3/3/3/3 must be coming soon :)

The code and the idea are both busted. We now know that over one day's telemetry only 16% of players (probably the crazy ones like me) are playing lights. This is an average of less than two lights per team (16% of 12 is 1.92). Only 21% of players are using mediums. That means that every single game is going to have a longer wait time with 3333 because there are not enough light and medium pilots to go around.

Lose all the MM crap. No ELO, no tonnage limits, and definately no 3/3/3/3 or any combination like that. I play all classes and have since I started. My ELO is about even with them all, I would guess. I get rolled some and I roll a fair amount. I have a little better than even K/D ratio and the same with win/loss. All this happened through countless nerfs and buffs. Bottom line is that piloting skill trumps any game matching or playing mechanic. I have seen top tier player dropped by newbys and vice versa. It all boils down to where you shoot from and what you shoot at, period.

I had my fourth match of the evening (with at least 30 minutes waiting time for match #2). I was the last mech running around in my team (no weapons). I had more team reminders what my grid position was and that I should get myself killed than I had in the last three months. So, the new patch is doing wonders for morale. I had the satisfaction of not dying.

I tried with a locust, which I pretty much doubt is a popular mech and still got 20 minutes of waiting before I gave up, so I dont think its about popularity but code errors.

3333 seems not to be enabled - 4 Assault or 6 Lights or 7 Mediums in the matches i played post patch...
