First wait was 13 minutes. I quit after 15 minutes on the second wait. I'll come back when this is better. I don't have that kind of time to waste ...

Wish I could suspend my premium time ...

Something's still not right. I jumped into the queue as a solo light mech (most heavily in demand at 21%) at 3:44 PDT. It's now 3:54, a full ten minutes later, and it's still "SEARCHING..."

I thought you guys only had yesterday off, not today as well
Nothing today but a patch that rendered the game unplayable and filler.
No balance, no tweaks, not a single update, not even info on clans which are less than a month away.
I come to expect announcements only on patch days now because I'm almost convinced it's the only time you guys are actually at the office.
How exactly did this company convince M$ to let them play video game developer?

Why would Microsoft care they're giants there reputations fine , PGI on the other hand not so much

So, "No worry m8s, let them just ruin the franchise, we didnt want it anyway"???
Makes no sense to me. PGI just got a license, the rights still belong to M$.
Ruining the franchise makes the rights worth less...

its now pointless to try t grind mechs to master them..the wait time to get into a match is simply not worth it..

hope everyone is happy with what they already have

Pro tip: To get some guys on your test server, don't only put it online for some hours when half of your player base is working/sleeping. And give some incentive for using it, e.g. a free day of premium for everyone who play 5 matches on the PTS or whatever. (yeah I know, people got something the last time, but no one knew it beforehand)

In a medium dropping alone, still took 10 min to get a match. So I'd say it still not fixed.

Hey PGIIGP, You have test servers! test things there.

They did 3 times. Their results said it'd work great. o.O; I participated in 2 of them. Then the 'real' results of actual players showed "ain't gonna work."

Appreciate the idea, but the test server won't ever give us the concurrent simultaneous number of players needed to replicate the bugs in the matchmaker. Thus it cannot be used to test this particular feature.

As a professional developer...is there an issue with replaying data recorded earlier from production against a test server? An outside observer might assume that the match maker is only concerned with packing 24 players together in such a way that they make two 'balanced' teams. Replaying requests recorded from the production server based on the timestamps would be a very close recreation of the live environment, right down to the number of 'players'.

"2014-05-20 12:10:44: Hi I'm John, my ELO is 1266 and I am piloting a GRF-1S. Can you put me in an Assault or Conquest game?"

To someone without inside knowledge the only wrinkle would be those who cancel while searching - the algorithm needs to be able to handle a 24 player package suddenly being thrown back in the matching pool because someone canceled. A replay test could randomly cancel a percentage of requests sent into the test server.

Again I should stress that this is based on assumptions about how the match maker is written. Is it really so tightly coupled to the actual in game server code that it can't be unit tested in this fashion?

Don't change anything! Having a great time now where more or less every player is in premade and the matches are intense, lots of tactics applied and very close, thanks PGI!

Sounds like closed beta. The polar opposite of normal gameplay now.
I miss those days.

So the wonderful, balanced games I had before 22:00 GMT are now gone again?

Oh please, WHY? I really enjoyed having fair matches!
No more x4 Assault derp lances or x4 Heavy troll lances.....I only played a few before logging but they were GREAT games!

Why turn it off, again?

Well one big reason is that people (like me) couldn't get into matches without 10 minute waits and only getting matches in assault mode.

This would be very short sighted.
With every stunt like today, the franchise loses worth. This is actually going down in the books of M$ and can only be seen as a trade to get some (petty) cash now for losing a broader asset that can generate cash by a dozen other licenses in different genres. Those guys may be greedy but they are not stupid. I would BET that there are some milestones to be met to be able to keep the exclusive license.
If PGI fails to meet them, they are out and in the moment i am not really sure if i should not wish that. Maybe better to put the thing back to dormant and wait for someone competent before ruining the franchise and burning it for every other genre.

The weird thing is my first match relatively soon after the patch was quick, and it degraded from there. The longer the day went on, the longer the delays became, and I was playing just medium mechs.

This was my experience as well. First two matches were almost instant and had incredible balance because of 3/3/3/3.

Greetings MechWarriors

We were able to receive a great deal of useful telemetry data from your successful and unsuccessful attempts earlier today to launch as we tested class limits on matchmaking, all of which will help us provide an even better system later on.

At 3PM PDT / 6 PM EDT / 10 PM UTC, our team will be introducing a hot fix which should resolve any further matchmaking delays until we can release the next iteration of the matchmaker in a future patch. The hot-fix will NOT require any patch on your part. If you click search again at that time, everything will be back to normal. All players in a game will not be affected.

Many thanks for your understanding,

Pssst.

Still waiting to drop on average of five minutes on the preferred weight class for shorter searching times. I am NOT going to wait searching for a game LONGER then it takes to actually play a match.

I have cancelled waiting for a match more often then I have been able to get into one.

Yeah, that is back when it was mostly paying Battletech / Mechwarrior fans. PGI had to make changes to attract FTP 3PV shooter fans.

A brief overview of my evening :
After the patch, i tried a stalker / random mode : 2 matchs in 2 hour ... but at least the match were ok.
After the hotfix, i tried a shadowhawk / random mode : 1 match in one hour where i got paired with 4 bad/new player who couldn't even reach the 10 score points mark.

Go on, PGI, go on ... and i will ask a refund on everything I can.

After one year, you still don't realize that the player pool is too small to have a ELO based MM especially when you reach one of the ELO end spectrum. We were better off with the old class based MM.

Who like more, ummm, waiting?

The game itself has changed for the good in some and for the worse in many parts. But a lot of the "worse" turns are actually not player behaviour/taste related but shoddy programming related. 3rd PV is junk (as an example for player taste), but you do not have to use it. Hitreg problems or Matchmaker failcascade are shoddy programming. You have to live with both...

Curious: if weight class matching has been disabled and wait times are still abnormally long, is the problem directly related to 3/3/3/3?
