So what exactly are LRMs doing that's different?

Scaling damage. At 181 meters, they're doing almost no damage. Our collective best guess, which has been backed up by Russ, was that the scaling damage for Clan LRMs got thrown into live against all the missile types. In theory, we should be finding that at 999 meters LRMs are doing full damage, but I havent seen a conclusive test of that yet. What is not unclear is that whatever you're using, LRM/SRM/SSRM, you might as well not bother for now.

Here is how it goes. PGI is planning to make Clan LRMs do less damage within 180 meters, on an exponential curve.

Linear, not exponential.

The Command Chair says otherwise: http://mwomercs.com/...gn-perspective/

Quote

Minimum range stays at 180m but LRMs can be fired. The damage ramps from 0 to 1.1 in an exponential curve. i.e. Damage is minimal in the [0]-[100]m range and increases to full damage between [101] and [180]m ranges.

Honestly your posts last night led me to test it. Yeah you were irritated but you still made your point clearly. A lot of us want this game to succeed and while you aren't a white knight you aren't downing on the game for no reason.

I'm downing the game now Bishop. Big time. You know they are claiming that their annual income is 40 million. They also stated SRM's were going to be fixed and patched weeks ago. This after them stating the same thing months before that. Then you get Paul's BS stating that they will have to do further testing because 2.0 damage could be OP. Oh wait Im sorry 2 ppc's 2 ac 5's pinpoint 2 ac20's Pinpoint. Dual Guass PP isnt OP but a spread out have to be in your face is. You know what these guys have F'ing pulled us by the mouth for how long now? No maps because and I quote "we need to sell mechs to get maps" . Well how many Fraggin mechs have they sold. Don't tell me rehashed mechs are costing them 70 grand to add hardpoints. Even the new mechs have the same geometry as the old ones. Screw this man. Knockdowns are a pipe dream.

Oh and WTF is the point of Community Warfare. We will be playing on the same damn maps we have been for the last 2 years. Really. As far as community help. Well they are fine with NGNG sucking it up and making vids for them probably at no cost, but they are against user created maps!

ALso where the F are the game modes. If Star Citizen is housing 250 employees has 5+ planned game modes 2 of those which start next week and are only sitting at 44 million, then why the hell hasn't our 50 employee group with a supposed annual income of 40millish hired some pros to come up with some good gamemode?

Look I don't fault the crew designing this game. Have you seen them? They are all kids and they are doing some pretty steller stuff. But the CEO's and the directors need to get their heads out of their asses and either put up or shut up.

To remind people of an alternative solution to "scaling" Clan LRM damage with this simple LRM fix that can either be exclusive to Clans or applied to both Clans and Inner Sphere, click here.

Missiles are broken and not OP for once, oh noes whatever shall we do?

lets look at it like this, how many times have LRMs been broken and ridiculously OP nice to see them completely nerfed for a change.

fixes that were changed in 2-3 days time. Lets look at how op pinpoint high damage alphas have been. Oh wait no fraggin fix for that ever. Not even anything as simple as recoil

Why is it nice to see something broken that was, pre-patch, generally regarded as being in about the right place balance-wise? I'm guessing here, but maybe we should break your ac5/ppc pop-tart build as see how you manage?

I for one think PGI is doing an excellent job.

I'll continue to buy merchandise & support.

For those who compare PGI to Oracle or microsoft, I wonder if they realize in the past Oracle refused to fix critical issues for more than a year:

http://www.zdnet.com...ase-7000001211/

Windows 8 GUI is a million times more poorly made than UI 2.0.

PGI has 50 employees.

Microsoft has 100,000 employees.

PGI is competent enough and doing exceptionally well with what they have to work with.

People need to relax and stop being so negative.

I generally don't play meta, and am actually really bad using high damage alpha 'mechs, that includes poptarts and the like

Oh I'm so concerned about that. If they still suck so bad then I can't give anyone the Jenner-D. PGI really Jenner-F'd this one up.

I'll stop now Jenner-K?

LRMs spent the better part of a year being terrible, still doesn't hold up to how meta PPCs+ACs have been forever.

After half a day of horrid matchmaking and now missile bugs, I think we should get a day of premium time back. Mine was wasted.

Then your bar for excellence must be set very, very low.

Which suggests you play generalist mech builds, which makes your comment even more baffling.

I agree...anyone that has active premium time should be given a day of it back...for the game being unplayable after the patch (waited for over 40 minutes as it searched for a match...in my light) and for adding a huge bug to the game (now, over half my mechs are virtually worthless because missiles are useless)...a company that directly causes paying customers to lose functionality if the product should refund the cost for the time that service is unavailable
