Hey guys, very quick question. I'm relatively new to MWO. I wanted to buy the Firestarter bundle that has just become available, but I recently bought the Ember. If I buy the bundle, do I end up with two hero Firestarters or do I just simply not get the hero mech?

Ah, fair enough. I guess at the very least I can sell the non-champ/hero one and just do 2 heroes and a champion for mastery. Thank you very much sir.

You know, I'd say email support@mwomercs.com. There's some chance they could figure something out (say, get you a FS9-K or an JR7-O instead?) Maybe not, but it can't hurt to ask and support is always cool.

That wouldn't work because both Ember's would be the same mastery tree. You would still need the third Firestarter.

Perhaps one day they will wise up and allow people to gift mechs to other players and you could give the second one to someone else.

I wish they didn't throw the hero into the bundle. Makes me feel like I wasted my money getting heroes on their own.

I can understand throwing regular mechs and even champions together, but the hero too?

Oh well, guess you can't argue with the 'value' as it is practically a must buy.

Maybe instead of getting the heroes I'm missing I'll just wait for bundles to include them. And then sales on the bundles.

I agree completely. I just bought Ember when it was 50% off a week or two ago, but I don't have any other Firestarter's and this package seems to be a good deal. Now if I could gift the extra Ember, or get a reduction in the package price for each item I already own like LoL does with their champion packages I would have already bought the package.

I can mostly agree with that (almost entirely)

It is rather upsetting.... and yet...

Call me weird here (maybe I am numb from the rest of the stress I have been dealing with) but it isn't bothering me that much.

I’ll admit, the bundles are doing a very good job of tempting me into getting into Cataphracts. I’ve never once really thought about getting into Cataphracts, but nabbing an entire leveling set of the things plus some premium time and ‘Mechbays for maybe half-again the price of the Hero alone? That is making me think long and hard about the things, and this from a strike pilot who dislikes fat gunpigs as much as he dislikes taking damage.

Now if only the third Phract in the kit wasn’t Derpmann McSlowpants… I mean seriously, they put the FS9-H and the CTF-4X in the kits? Talk about a shot to the kidneys…

It's better than the 1X ("Anything I can do the 3D can do with jets!") or the 2X ("What are these missile points for?"). IMO, the heavy and assault bundles are basically perfect. The FS9-H is an odd but not awful choice. The CN9 choice is really odd just a few weeks after everybody who wanted got the champ free.

EDIT: I thought of your sig last night when I killed a VTR and a BNC after getting legged on my CDA-3M. Earned his name that match did Lucky.

Just use the C-bills you make grinding the good 2 (and by selling the bad one) for getting a better one.

I bought two of the four heros, and for full price to boot; but I don't have a problem with it. It's a good deal. It isn't like I got totally ripped off -- I bought the Ember using MC I had bought during the special MC sale last year.

I'd hang on to the 4X. The 3D can do the same play style as the 1X and 2X for the most part, and with JJs to boot. The 4X is just different enough from the Muromets that it is interesting in my opinion.
