So the devs said that our only option on June 17th with our Assault, Skirmish, and Conquest drops will be 12 Inner Sphere vs 12 Clan, then? That's what I'm trying to find the source to.

It'll likely be as mixed as it is now, with Clanners and IS units dropping in mixed groups using mixed clan and IS tech

So yes, you could drop with a mix of Steiners in IS mechs, Davions in Clan mechs, Wolves in IS mechs, and Jags in Clan mechs.

At least till CW.

My biggest questions would be these:

1. Will you please consider leaving the public test server up full-time and use it to (at the very least) preview game balance changes? I understand that some issues, like the 3/3/3/3 queue times, would not be caught this way, but it still seems like there have been a good number of issues that could have been addressed before they went live if they had been posted to the test server first. The delay in getting changes pushed out would be, I believe, preferable to breaking the live game and having to hotfix.

2. It has become apparent, through the significant number of hotfixes that have been released after patches this year, that the existing Q&A process is not able to catch some fairly major bugs. What is being done to this process to reduce the need for hotfixes and to catch more of these sorts of bugs before they hit the live environment.

Thanks for the hard work.

No, what they are saying, and why I was laughing is that there will be NO distinction on June 17th, it will be business as usual regardless of if you're in an IS or Clan mech. Meaning that you will have your Clan mechs derping along right next to your IS mechs.

Poorly planned release is poorly planned.

Well, conceptless game is conceptless.
Poorly planned releases just fit the bill, don't you agree?

After all, which players want fluff things like distinction between factions, real objectives, politics, different career paths, ranks, economics, or similar redundant things?
A poor minority living on a small island, apparently.
All that todays players want is fast gameplay, achievements and fancy graphics. See? They did everything right.

I must have missed "Half-assed Esport" as one of the design pillars.

Here are four burning questions I have:

1. Do you (PGI) ever intend to actually deliver on the "pillars of gameplay" CW, Role warfare, Information warfare, etc... fully?

2. Do you (Russ) truly believe that UI 2.0 is a user interface worthy of a high quality product and in keeping with the highest standards and good practices of the industry?

3. Why have 5-11 man groups not been re-implemented when all other MM fix attempts can be charitably called failures?

4. Do you (Russ) still feel that the dedicated BT fans, that funded your project int eh founders phase, populated your game in the closed beta phase, that recruited people for your open beta phase, and have provided pages upon pages upon pages of feedback and balancing ideas are "on an Island" and not your core audience? Bonus question: If BT fans are not your target audience, who is?

Cart before the horse... not really surprising, but I get a kick out of the push to get Clan Mechs out, before CW. Get the money making content out, and then release the actual content that will make the game better, not just add fluff.

Don't get me wrong, I'm excited to see some of the Clan mechs, but I had hope we would have plenty of time to get embroiled on our IS squabbles over territory, and then BAM, Clanners.

I forget who posted it (I'll try and dig for it), but there was an epic release suggestion involving PR about unknown aggressors, Devs randomly dropping in PUG matches as a full team of Clan mechs before they were realeased to shock the battle field, and build up hype and mystery. It would've been awesome- a true in game invasion event.

Follow up question.

When did half-assed Esport become one of the "Design Pillars"?

A whole Island full of strange self-entitled people would've cried out in delight.
But then the devs decided that pleasing demanding players was uncool. So they went to cater to the hip shooter crowd instead.

To be fair, getting the Clan Mechs out so players can have them built up to a respectable level before CW isn't a bad goal either. Given their release schedule though, if we get CW before November, they'll have failed at that. Not as huge of a problem since you'll be able to drop in IS mechs, but that kinda dilutes the flavor a bit (though it expands the market for all mechs)

Seriously. I think Reddit broke my eyes. Guess I'll be reading someone's condensed version of the event, because I'm not subjecting myself to the cornea breaking terror that is the OutreachHPG.

I can understand the reasoning, but it doesn't matter. You advertise the forums as your primary home. Therefore, the forums should be the place for this. If you don't like it, stop advertising the forums, but a lot of people hate the underhive of Reddit and don't want to touch it with a ten-foot pole.

Clearly, because they think of them (the users there) as the better members of the community, or as the better community alltogether.

I didn't want to scream it out on the forums because I could've guess the reactions ("spineless band wagon jumper!" For example).

I was talking more about the two threads they burried deep in the patch feedback forum and K-Town.

True, true, I see both sides. I guess it's the story person in me that wants it the other way... oh well.
