I second that (already did ask that question the first time). It would be nice to know.. As i do consider myself kind of "mid-range player", it would be interested if my place 241 with 12 matches is very bad or average (as is hope).

You don't have to reveal data about your overall player base, but maybe for this tournament?

...compare last tournament to this one.
Note that the #1 player for the FRR...was the #1 Liao player last time. Top players are rationally and simply mining smaller factions for easy MC prizes. And I don't blame them.
Also, top 50 data now please. Bonus: Give us the data from last tournament so we can point out who just switched for the easy prizes.

I'm LW #833 with 103 points (did just two matches, they were okay for more or less a beginner), i guess there are some guys with even lower score, but not a lot. So my estimate is about 1000+ lone wolfs and about 8 to 10 thousands total.

Personally I don't see how this matters... At this point there is no incentive to stick to a faction. The faction wars tournaments are simply building hype for Clan Invasion and community warfare. Until then I doubt that the majority of non-hardcore-battletech fans or any of the Clan fans will stick to a faction.
Its not really like you can penalize players who go for the smaller factions to win MC any more than you can penalize people who pay to win or use other cheap tactics

What are you talking about?! I am a loyal servant of House Kurita.

ps. some of us talked about going into different factions for obvious reasons. As you already pointed out it's about winning the MC, it's however not about going onto "smaller" factions.
pps. I hope you clicked that link D:

...So, when will we be able to view the total number of participants and see a breakdown per category? This is the third tourney in which I've competed, and none of them had this. Placing 59th in Steiner is cool, but only if there are a lot of people competing. Otherwise, placing 59th out of 60 is really pretty sad.

As others have said, loyalty means little currently, especially when it just takes a mouse click. I personally changed faction because I joined a unit since last tourney, so it isn't always as nefarious as you may think.
Also, since Clans and Periphery Worlds haven't been implemented yet, some people may be extremely loyal to certain factions, but are unable to chose them, so is stead just choose a faction solely for these competitions.

Due to some numbers released in another thread, there are tens of thousands of matches created every day, with roughly 3-10 matches per person each day and 24 players per match. That means there are lots of players playing regularly. PGI doesn't want to release any numbers, simply because they know we will do the guesstimate math just like I did here, so it likely won't happen any time soon.
Based off of last tourney, where I started in the 500-600 range after my first (not very good) match, I estimate there are at LEAST 500 per faction participating in tourneys, so your 241 would put you solidly in the "average" bucket, possibly even on the high end of hat bucket.
