I hear PGI is hiring. Maybe some people who are good at making maps should apply?

Level/Map Designer was not a posted job. :)

PGI will never have an incentive to hire/invest in map content because they have no way to make any money from it, so it would be a natural progression to allow the community to create this content since we have an incentive.

PGI isn't accepting community made maps, I accept that fact. Whats wrong with giving us general map guidelines, and allowing use of MWO map assets? This way we have time to design, make and polish our maps! When the time comes for the community to deliver, we're not caught by surprise.

I say lets go one step further give us one shot to design a map let the community design maps and then submit then then have th3e community vote on which map they like and then have PGI review that map ans see if the quality can come close to or better than what we currently have/receive. If we are never given the chance we will never have the capacity to surprise you!!!!

they won't hire someone for this anyways because they have no way to profit from map content. Only the community has incentive to produce non-profitable content which is why PGI should look to the community for map production.

Yep i would agree that PGI should allow the comunity to create own maps. I think that its 3 month ago we have seen a new map and it really start to feel boring.

Another patch day and no new maps at all. Do they want the game to fail , do they want to everyone to loose interest in playing the game because it going to happen. No new map no reason to keep playing the old ones. When people get bored that when they find another game to play. Update your map gives us new maps or give us alternate map of what we have added fog make it night , gives us rain but gives us something besides the new bloody mech hero champion and clan that you keep releasing.

the clan mechs want matter if left to play them because everyone has moved on to last new game. Variety is the spice of life and right now all you feeding us is bland mashed potatoes.

I couldn't agree more once a game starts to feel stale like this one has gotten you start to lose your fringe players and once the fringe players leave the hardcore players get tired of playing each other and then they start to leave. new content release is important to keep a game fresh and without it game die, and no new hero mechs/clan mechs is not enough to keep the game new and fresh. we have over 115 mech variants in this game and really only 9 different maps the proportion is off slightly.

For a thread about map making there sure is a lack of map ideas and mockups posted.

If the map you make isn't taken for MWO in the end, it might still find some play in MW:LL.

Cryengine editor is out there, modelling programs like blender are free and can export to almost all the formats, so what is stopping you? Cease the complaining and start mapping!

(For me, it's the time. I've got some tough courses at university which barely leave me time to play a few round and visit the forums. I don't even have a proper weekend atm.)

Have to agree here. New maps are just one key in keeping the game fresh, it is why many in the community are unhappy with management. To us (on the outside) it seems like a no brainier to let some of the community develop maps. Even if you didn't want to open up your assists to the world, start an intern program and let several free employees develop assists for you. And the white knights wonder why many of us are unhappy. Its just sad.. long term ROI does seem to elude them.

I couldn't agree with you more snowdog, There a many college students out there that would kill for internships, even unpaid ones that could plug some time into building/reviewing community content which would be an amazing cost savings for PGI as well as a content boost for the community. Its a win/win scenario!!!!

Atleast they're working on communication now. Before they were on low profile. I certainly hope after clans arrive they will prioritise things better. Fixing assets in excisting maps for example. Or getting content what community asks for.

Still the best thing would be community made maps. Everybody happy.

I completely agree with your statement, I don't agree that allowing the community to develop maps would be releasing control it would be getting free labor!

No one is going to spend time developing a mock up map with no hope of it ever getting into the game!

Rather disheartening to see the lack of allowed community help with the game when we have SO many ideas, and some of us even have the knowledge to implement those ideas.

So what is the hold up? The CRY Engine SDK is Free. Why not dnld and build a MWO Map and then send in pic's. Now, to be fair to PGI, you will have to create all your own Objects, Items, etc etc. all from scratch. No MWO specific pre-made Libraries. That would be like cheating after all the BS PGI continues to put up with having had to do it that way themselves right?

When it is done, and fits MWO's game play style, and looks cool, maybe the Community could ask PGI, nicely of course, to have it put on the Test Server for a dry run.

Hell word is it would take a Map Maker 2-3 weeks, tops, for a Final product worthy of MWO right?

What's the hold up?
