I hope that the war horns will only be heard by the pilot equipping it. I think it's stupid that you hear the heavy metal music when you're not piloting it. This would be a nice indicator of a kill for those of us still learning the game and are brawling hard and fighting and not reading.

I think there should definitely be a "Allow other player sounds" option in the menu. When Heavy Metal came out I got a kick out of hearing it. Esp if it was the kill that ended the match (I don't know, for some reason it made me chuckle). But now I'm neutral on the subject, hearing HM neither delights or irritates me (unless it's coming from me, then it's delight. Always).

Yes that would work a toggle to hear other players horns or music.

This guy, life of the party.

Why?

Because he refuses to accept the excuse that "Hey, those other guys over there, they screw up too, so our screw ups are just fine?"

Really? Does it bother you that much that he quite possibly might believe that we are all responsible for our own choices and actions, and are to be held accountable for such?

Seriously? In your profession, when you turn in a poor performance do you tell your supervisor (or client, or teacher or whatever) that Little Timmy across the hall turns in sub-standard work so it's totally fine for you to do so as well?

Little gnawing bugs here and there and a slower than I'd prefer pace for actual gameplay content are fine and to be expected in any game. There have been issues with this game lingering since it's dawn that are fundamental, basic, even "baby-town-frolics" level problems that are unacceptable in a product that has been on market this long. Trying to make excuses that "bigger studios have problems too" is similarly unacceptable at this point as well. We are all accountable for our own work, and holding one's self to a low standard because the industry standard is low is just unprofessional, plain and simple.

And why the hell are they even on the inside? Warhorn. Sort of implies it's used for intimidation, not blasting in your own face.

Wait, what?!

Okay... .why are there poorly modeled vintage 1970's speakers in a Clan battlemech cockpit? They are total anachronisms, and why would they be *inside* the cockpit? Wasn't the Clan big on intimidation and bragging about their superior combat skills? Wouldn't the warhorns be external, like the ones on Heavy Metal, and announce the pilot's kills to the world?

This looks terrible and, even if it is placeholder art, simply makes no sense... why would I put speakers inside my mech to remind me that I got a kill when I darn well saw the enemy mech blown up in front me?! Yeesh...

I just think that you should know what you're buying, and since no one watches the vlogs, or visits NGNG, well.

I'm not saying they're not accountable for their actions or don't have room for improvement. I'm saying it's part of this industry and unavoidable. The industry standard is the standard for a reason. Just because it doesn't meet your expectations/standards doesn't mean it can be better right now and match your expectations/standards. In time, yes, it can improve but certain advancements have to be made first. Have you ever tried to make a game like this? I doubt it, I know I haven't. So what do I base my observations on? What other developers are doing and have done in the past. You can look at any developer and you will see similar problems across the board. That tells me it's not incompetence, but how things are. I doubt every developer has the exact same mind set and wants to be lazy or ignore their existing problems. I like to believe some people take pride in their work. There are limiting factors that are often out of people's control, even the developers. Per Occam's razor, it's the one explanation with the fewest assumptions, therefore the most likely.

A baby isn't born with the ability to walk or speak, it is learned and developed over time. However, a baby born without a voice box will never speak, no matter how hard they try. A baby born with Osteoporosis will always have brittle bones. Just like the SRM splash damage problem, they have stated it calculated damage over multiple frames. That's not a fault of the developer, that's the engine they're working with. An engine they did not make, but they are still trying to find a work around. Again, blizzard has games that have been out for over a decade that still have problems that existed at launch. Not because they want them to stay, because they don't have what they need to fix it or the fix effects other things far more drastically than what is currently the issue. In Blizzard's case, they make their own engines and still have similar issues. MWO hasn't been around for long, it has a long way to go yet.

"Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid." - Albert Einstein

This is a strange argument. True, I could just not use them. But I can still wish there were better designed can't I? Is that not allowed?

I could see Rhonda Snord having a pair inside her Heavy Metal. But that is about it. (Cuz, you know, they like old timey stuff)

Sorry it looks like my reply regarding this was deleted for some reason. I must have pissed someone off, lol.

FYI it was a modest joke, and I don't mind what people do for their art direction... so long as it works and functions.

*note* I would absolutely love it if it had the Warhorn of the tripods from War of the Worlds... you know, the version where Tom Cruise is running.

Warhorns makes me think of Boromir, and we all know what happend to him.

Still the clans will feel at home in Mordor now

When we bought the Mechs packs ages ago, we took it on faith that these non-defined 'Warhorns' would be something cool or useful.

It seems, once again, our faith has been misplaced.

Well it was kinda on the cards, as 'features' bought on pheonix packages have yet to be useful

Warhorns from the beginning sounded like the Heavy Metal Kill sound. Now that modules actually have a visual representation in game and I expected warhorns to be the same. Then again you guys are whining about 1 unpolished model of the warhorns.

This is supposed to go on the Clan mechs? Heck, even the Wu-Tang Clan won't want to use them.

I'm not whining i'm finding it rather amusing, I don't like clans so zero intrest in them other than to make them a pile of scrap, but I got stung last time around -_-
