First off, I would love to state that I am an avid megamek player. I am up for gaming almost anytime. Keep in mind I am in middle of a house move atm and am also running a Campaign with some friends atm of the Clan Invasion as a sibko of Wolves... I will be more available like I said above after the moving stuff and this campaign are over. I usually do campaigns and sometimes single matches and, for me anyway, the campaigns usually have something to do with the clans. However, I got a few friends that have me do succession wars once in a while. Got to say, this game is really great fun...

the above is a link to tracker for all publicly known mekwars servers.
mekwars is a wrap-a-round program that works with megamek to create a persistent universe with personal hangars, factions, universe map, etc.
cliking on the server name will take you to the servers homepage where you can get their client, how-to instructions and learn what settings that server is using for their universe.

it helps to know some java.
it can be a bit time consuming i am not sure how much more automated it has gotten since the last time i was involved in the project was a few years ago.
you can contact of of the active devs in the project, their names are at top of page at that link.

MegaMek Readme said:
dedicated server just runs the server, in the console, without a "host" player
in the game. People, including yourself, can join it like a game with a host.
The dedicated server reads the password and port options from the
clientsettings.xml file, or uses the default (no password and port 2346.) If you
want the dedicated server to load a saved game, supply the filename after the
-dedicated switch, like this: "-dedicated savedgame.sav". To stop the server,
you will need to tell the Java machine to halt execution, which is CTRL + C on
most platforms.
I know its not a MekWars server, but it might be easier to start up and maintain.
All you really need to know is how to use the terminal on your OS. You'll need to cd to the main folder of megamek and type "java -jar MegaMek.jar -dedicated" it all goes well, you'll see "Redirecting output to megameklog.txt" and thats pretty much it. The IP and port info will be in that text file. A friend of mine has a server running all the time and anyone can reset the server back to default so you don't have to monitor it nonstop. Hope that helps you getting playing sooner.

Probably not going to happen... far to much screen space is needed between the main screen, the minimap, and the unit detail window. I barely have enough room on my 15" laptop screen.
