I agree it is a pre-order.

Your paying before it is released instead of paying up when it is released, how can it be anything else?!

The founderpacks are not the same as buying a premium subscription.
When the game goes into open beta, you will be able to try however much you like, before you buy anything.

The founderpacks are for those who would like to support the game and it development.
For those who have "faith" if you wish.
As thanx for the support in helping to *found* thr game, you get a bunch of extra goodies.

Sounds like the FP's are not for you, and you should wait either to you get invited to closed beta, or untill open beta is launched.
Then you can try before you buy.

As it is ATM, they do not even have a Finnished product fir people like you to mske up your mind.
Either you believe in the project and want to help found it, or you dont.

I am getting one, btw :)

I am not buying the founders pack, I hate having advantages over other people, I have to earn my way through the trials and tribulations of being a Mechwarrior. A TRUE Mechwarrior does not need these things, it makes you weaker! All those people that have bought founders packs are truely horrid creatures, you are the types that would club baby seals and burn the rainforests just to have a little more comfort!
I would be ashamed of myself! As a child I had to walk 50 miles to school - ONE WAY! - uphill with rabid dogs, wolves and urangutans nipping at my heels....FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!!!

STOP THE MADNESS!!!!!!!!

all i have to say to that is wow, if you think people with the founders pack gives them a advantage it dosent all it dose is give people a cool mech with a c-bill boost thats not really a advantage at all.

And all the othere people that are saying that people with the founders pack will complain if they dont like the game thats there problem they have seen videos they have even seen pictures and even interviews if they didint like the game then why would they have bought a founders pack to support the developers of the game, but i kno for one that i bought a founders pack to support the developers in trying to revive a game searies that was frigin awsome if you people whant to complain go ahead.

There is most likely lots of spelling mistakes in hear but i dont give a dam about it.

Its both? Its also launch in a sense?

Its part of Closed Beta 2. However at that point forward there will be no wipes...and founders get all their nifty stuff. So one part launch, couple parts closed beta (as the game won't be entirely finished yet at that point).

These devs ain't stupid are they. I do the same thing. Customers pay for my software while it is in beta but it can also be used.

Technically however it is not actually a beta. It can't be. It is just a finished product and they (like I do) continue to call it beta so that if any issues come up at last minute people excuse it.

Of course there is no try first. If the game is a total flop this is a sceam to soften the blow if the game ``blows`` and player base either never pays for anything or never plays.

I am one of them ones on the fence ,unfortunately they seem to be ignoring us. Unfortunately if they want me to give them money , I need to try before i buy. Seems pretty interesting the people that been posting on these forums all along are the ones paying but not getting into the beta.I see alot of people talking about having faith. Sorry fresh out.with all the bad releases the last few years I dont hand out money for
an unseen product.

Hell I just want to see the stats on the Founder Mechs, forget playing it before I buy it. I want to know about the Mechs before I shell out 60 for my preorder, and get to choose only one. Or if I wait till the last possible min, and squeeze in 120 for the complete set. I play World of Tanks and there premiums very widely, but one thing is for sure having a currency grinder is always a huge plus for F2P games. I could care less about the founder title, so long as I get early access, and a make that will help me grind for the rest of my mechs.

But like I said I play WoT so I know you got your bad *** premiums, and you got your dinky ones that are low end. I'm Just curious about how long it will take before your founder mech is mothballed except when your hard up, or how fast it will be surpassed by another premium model after release. Obviously this game is gonna be way different, but what I noticed is it looks similar concept wise, you got classes, and get paid for what you did, not for kills. Just like I assume you unlock equipment. That being said the founders could have any level of varition, and with the system could easily be grindable into high end content as the game goes on, one hit wonders, or token items like the Alpha vehicles in Wargaming, that are for prestige more then continued use.

PS: Also I got a friend in beta, all he would tell me was whats going on in the videos in the media section, basic mech tech from older games, and that in his opinion this will be like World of Tanks with mechs, wich has me stoked, since there system is tried and true, and even the videos confirm you will earn currency and exp similar to WoT. But unlike WoT you don't just use the last gun in the unlock chain, there is a point to more then one equipment unlock other then grind. I love the idea of being able to change my load out on a whim if I grind long enough, suppose to running the same exact thing for 100+ battles to unlock the next thing, and starting the grind all over again.

this is basically the same as any preorder for any game. if you are worried that you wont like the game, dont get it. if you are excited for the release, and willing to risk spending your money on it, and have FAITH that it will be a good game, then buy it.

the reason that people are talking about having faith is that ANY preorder of ANY game requires faith in the final product.

imagine if people had insisted "I want to try skyrim before I preorder" :)

It is very hard to say with this game. Who knows maybe they really will stick to their word.

Do ya think they even know for sure if the games model will be a winner? I don't, I don't think they can promise anything on this but they sure do look like they are going to try their best.

That is one reason I have $120 ready. I just want to see more posts from the devs on how this game players who buying. There are some elements I really want to exist in all MMO. One being guild bases that other guilds can attack. This game won't have that. But some indication as to it being a possibility or something not likely to be considered for say 5 years, would help me decide.

ummmm, that is because you sign a non-disclosure agreement when you get access to the beta, so anyone talking about beta game-play in the forum will have their post deleted pretty quickly, as well as other possible ramifications (like profile deleted and beta revoked among others)

It is different in the fact that beta access has been giving to hundreds of players. Maybe even players who have not and plan to pay nothing.

It is not worth arguing about or putting the game down over. But it is worth being patient and at least asking for their decision on open beta to be re-considered.

I am really hoping you people dont end up with buyers remorse.I like mech warrior as much as any one but after last few years
I am not about to get sucked in by a unseen product. I figure either PGI will make a big name for themselves with this title or they will
destroy the mech franchise . it's going to be either , or

Star Trek Online, Star Wars: The Old Republic.

They had massive hype. Both turned out to be not very great. TOR is alright well worth playing but these games lack a serious buzz.

I don't know how many more MMO I can try before I realize they can't make a fun MMO like they can a co-op game with heart pounding action. MW:O is different from the games I have mentioned in that it is PvP only and territory play. My kind of game, something I realised over last couple of years.

I'm still on the fence but only to try and encourage beta access is added to legendary package for playing this month. Not August.

1 week earlier is worth begging for, is it not ?

In my opinion, allowing people to try out the game before buying a founders pack would reduce the value of the founders pack, as it currently represents that a person had faith in the devs, and was willing to pay money early to help support this game.

allowing people to try before they buy would turn the founders pack into just another microtransaction (although admittedly a rather large one)

Another thing to remember is that with a Free to Play title, devs will always sweeten the deal as time goes on to attract new paying players and get more money out of existing players. Tribes ascend being a good example, the deals just keep getting better.

I for one will wait.

I'm a developer. You should have faith in developers. Most of the time they will deliver what they say they will. I'm confident they will.

I'm confident I will pay $120. I'm just trying to encourage open beta sooner.

I'm guessing mechs with c-bill bonus like founders mechs but maybe slightly less. But yes, there will be sweet deals and they must make them better to encourage bored veteran players to pay up after a year or two.

For those of you who are asking for, nay, DEMANDING a "try before you buy", I want to point out something to you: This game is in no way, shape or form complete, as of yet. If it was a retail game, I'd say "SURE, let them have a demo because we can afford the time to write up the code required for a demo in a pvp-based game". But it isn't. PGI does NOT have the funding to devote resources to writing you a "demo". Nor do they have the time to police a hundred thousand "trial-accounts". If they could give you these things before-hand, to help you decide if you want to buy the special package, it certainly would NOT be called a Founder's Package either; Mainly because the game would already be in a completed format, and not still in development.

Also, I have a feeling that a lot of you would be expecting a finished product for a "trail run" and then go up in arms with cries of "YOU WERE TRYING TO MARKET US THIS GARBAGE?!?!!!1!11!one" when you discover how NOT ready MW:O is to go live.

the unfortunate thing about any limited time offer is that there will always be somebody that was totally willing, but unable at the time.

I originally was looking at the elite pack, and decided it wasn't worth it to me at the price they offered it. Plus, something about those special mechs just feels like it violates the promise of being able to earn anything that can be bought. (I'm sure i'll catch flak for that statement)
