Confirmed: Clan Mechs Will Be Unusable By Merc Units In Cw.

In the past they've talked about aligning yourself to a faction including the clans once CW comes out, and I feel I remember that including merc corps.
This strikes me as wild speculation over nothing.

Even when I had it selected I was shown in game as a Lone Wolf.
If there really are going to be Mercs, then I would hope PGI will do a bit more for them then just give them an avatar on the forums. My feeling is they really aren't part of the game as it now stands.

I said regardless of CW OR NOT! I better be able to use whatever effing mech I want in CW, I may have to pay more cbills to get it there and repair it if it dies, but locking me out of a mech I already own is not a good way to keep people playing CW.
This is the problem that has occurred because we already have extensive inventories of mechs. Trying to "play to a faction" isn't going to work for people who already are here, those that come after CW will have to deal with higher Cbills for mechs there faction doesn't normally own. Those of us who already do own those mechs, will just have to deal with higher costs in maintaining those mechs in the theater of war.
I certainly hope you don't get to use Clan mechs early on in CW. Perhaps in a year or two. I don't care if you own it, oh wait you DON'T own it. PGI owns it. Check the user agreement they can take it, restrict it do anything they like with it and they owe you nothing in return if you don't like it.
Wanna play clan units in CW? Join the clans. End of story.

See: Dropships with limited numbers of mechbays for you and your unit to participate in CW with.
I can totally see them doing lockouts (X time) once you set what few mechs you will use for your CW operations.
/but yea screw those dirty lore people and their enjoyment of what makes this universe what it is

nice strawman

Or players like me who took an Atlas in my Founder's pack. I bought Sara for the Charity, and I am struggling to make my Battlemaster a worthy ride by practicing in it! Two Mechs I cannot get rid of and one I wanna use.

That said, it was my understanding that the IS factions had a fairly varied assortment of 'Mechs, so there wasn't many 'specific faction' 'Mechs. Still, perhaps they could introduce a bonus for certain key 'Mechs that belong to a faction if you play as said faction, giving you more C-Bills or some other bonus.
That or allow us to create multiple pilots, assign different ones to different factions and have 'Mechs assigned to said pilots as well.

Some folks wanna play PokemonWarrior:Online. and aren't happy unless they have all the toys. Me I came here to drive A mech against the Clans. Not one of hundreds. ONE Mech from start to finish, and into the 3060s.
I did this for Joe Mallan at my table, I wanna do it here as well.
Shouldn't you be a Davion with a name like yours???

Oh yes, and nobody is trying to take away their toys. They will always have a means to play what they want when they want, its called private matches and its called Launch button. For those of us who don't need that, we should have CW.
And no I'm Steiner when IS. And I roll an AWS-8Q

Hehe, "chance," as if there ever was a choice to be made? I took my money and bought Dark Souls 2. I'm quite satisfied with my purchase. It takes a lot more effort to earn my money and I better get a lot of content for it too, when I pay for something.
Hope you enjoy it..... I thought DS2 sucked but then again to each their own.

Faction Warfare is about the actual game Battletech, which had actual different Factions. Not just different colored name tags for identical groups. You can buy whatever mechs you want. You want to play as a faction you need to play to that faction.
To *not* limit mech choice in Faction Warfare is to make it utterly pointless. Just give us pug matches with a leader board in that instance, we'll make our own teams and team-names. You can even remove the 'Battletech' logo from it and just call it a 'Mech' game.
Play whatever you want in pug matches. You want to play Faction Warfare then you're playing as the existing Factions. I don't get where the challenge here is.

They aren't exactly known for good decisions
So again, they aren't?

They have already stated that players will be able to play in ANY mech they want, just not in Faction play (which will be PGI hosted events with restrictions).

For CW, I'd imagine you can also change your faction and grind whichever you want. While grinding a faction, you're likely restricted to whatever the rules for that faction are though. I see nothing wrong with that.
At least they aren't limited you to K models for Kurita, D for Davion and so on.

Yes, its all perfectly reasonable and was talked about by PGI nearly a year ago when speaking about how they planed to implement CW....
...still won't stop the tinfoil hat brigade from bursting out into fits of idiot rage....

I've been enjoying it greatly. It is different than DS 1 but great in its own way. I wish it were more like DS 1 and less "hubby" but, whatever. The Multiplayer improvements make up for it in some ways.
