So no half-off Dragon Slayers then.

I think they mean no Phoenix edition or Founder edition mechs. And Sara Jenner is gonna be an exclusion too. Cann't think of anything else.

As someone mentioned earlier, the Grid Iron Limited Edition (as opposed to the non-bobble headed version) will also be excluded.

I watched a few minutes of the first set of matches and got tired of watching DS poptart wars: this sale dosnt have a snowballs chance in hell of getting me to buy anything especially this close to clanpacks.

(which im still not convinced I should buy)

Someone should do stats on all the meta used.

And use it to prove a point. ;)

It's probably going to be Embers, Shadowhawks, Cataphract 3Ds and Victors.

So winning mechs.
Anything with an autocannon.
Poptarts.
Possibly an LRM boat.
More poptarts.

....and how did a commando get in here? ;)

How did an LRM boat get in there? I mean, didn't ACES end up being the only one that brought even modest amounts of ZE MISSILES to a match and won (not that they got past that first win, nor did they use LRMs for the second match)?

8 missile boats, very well protected, might kill 1 enemy.

Maybe. ;)
(To mention it. While being LRMed I minimized the game, opened up Fraps, waited for it to run in administrator, accidentally told it no, reopened Fraps, told it yes, minimized it out of the way, opened up the game, went full screen, hit record, and then tried to move. This was of course after reaching and attacking an LRM boat at close range, which had already died or kinda got close to it during all of that getting fraps ready while being hammered.)
(From the description)
"Right now, LRMs spam too much by firing too frequently and do absolutely nothing but annoy the living beep out of players. Why not slower reloads in exchange for more damage and heat?"

The sure bet on this sale is the Cataphract 3D. Someone has been tracking mech's taken in the tournament and the Cata3D is, far and away, the most heavily fielded mech. Mostly in sniper mode; but also with AC/20's (first round especially).

After that, Jenners are big, largely due to the drop weight limits.

If they really wanted to put the "Tournament Winner" on sale, it would be 50% off all Arty and Air Strikes for a week. Watch the matches, red smoke everywhere.

We cannot be playing the same game.

Today I was in a PUG match against 7 missile boats and one TAGing Spider 5D. We had mostly meta-mechs.

The LRM boats absolutely decimated us, 12-2.

A lance of us tried to get close enough to kill to the missile boats, but we were focus-fired into oblivion, one by one, before we could get within their minimum range. Being Canyons, there wasn't much cover for us to move up under. Though we had a D-DC with us, he was LRMed to death first via the TAGing Spider.

Everyone took shots of opportunity at the Spider when they could. But of course, a lot of those either didn't hit or the hits didn't register (who knows which these days?) and you can't chase a Spider very effectively when you're trying to dodge LRM160 at the same time.

While it's uncommon to come across so many LRM boats in one match, it's not uncommon for a couple of them using remote locks to still be very effective, depending on the map and the availability of cover.

I'm sure they're still not a weapon of choice in 12-man tournaments. Maybe HoL might have found a way to meta-FLD those boats to death... I'm not really sure how, given the sheer number of missiles raining down. But anyway, most of us aren't playing in tournaments most of the time.

Save your money. It's only half the Mech it used to be, prior to the nerf. It's very frustrating that, even with the biggest engine in it, you can still get out circle strafed by Heavies.

If you want to pop tart, and only pop tart, then I suppose it's still the go-to Mech. Personally, I find pop-tarting a little dull.

I'd laugh so hard if the winning team used entirely Founders and Phoenix mechs.

Greetings all,

OK, so there's a 50% Sale, fine but what Mech's are they?

- Is there an official list compiled of the actual teams Mech's?

If someone has the specific Mech's them self, not really interested in the load-out's, just what are the Mech's.

Thanks,
9erRed

Was your team poptarting or smart enough to keep their attention with one force while the mainstay of the force rushes into point blank and engage there? Even rushing directly if you have 12 players doing it, you can easily overtake the LRM boats.

The other thing is obviously they were somewhat coordinated or they slapped in Artemis.

Also your problem is meta mechs.
All the meta mechs get mostly CT-damage from LRMs. If you want to survive LRM boats, go non-meta. Even the Awesome gets mostly arm and side torso damage from LRMs (yet someone hitting you in the side can magically hit your CT).

Try something non meta. Try putting meta on something that isn't. Example a PPC or two and some lasers on a Jenner. Go under water, be invincible, pop up to shoot and go back under water. ;)

It's not until a player does this that LRMs become viable.

Those LRMs are doing 1.1 damage.

These LRMs are doing 1.8 damage.

and they were pretty doggone worthless, too. Even though they looked cooler than today's LRMs. They also travelled slower than today and reloaded slower.

So here's an idea. LRMs that can do something. 2.0 damage, double the heat, and double the cooldown (reload time).
LRM 20 then would do 40 damage, but won't fire again until 9.5 seconds later. Great enough to run by itself, but you won't boat it because it's too damn slow.
LRM 15, 30 damage, won't fire again until 8.5 seconds.
LRM 10, 20 damage, won't fire again until 7.5 seconds.
LRM 5, 10 damage, won't fire again until 6.5 seconds.
Cut missiles per ton to 120 where they belong.

Spam's gone, boaters will carry fewer missiles and trade tonnage for backup weapons (as they won't fire often enough to suppress and stalemate a fight), and LRMs actually mean something even in single to dual launcher counts.
