Really...? I'm surprised by the Gauss, only two JJs, and that a 350XL is deemed necessary.

I was expecting 2AC5, 2PPC, 4JJ and possibly even a Standard engine.

The Gauss allows you to focus more on your PPC sustained DPS because it takes up less tonnage and space, which is why the ERPPC is viable on any map that isn't Caustic/Terra Therma. Tourmaline is really pushing it, but you should be fine with the long range firing lanes and lack of brawling.

17 heatsinks is vital for the ERPPC. If you are playing on a hot map, just use 2xPPC 1xGauss instead of the ERPPC.

The XL350 takes advantage of the Victor's thin torso. Swinging the torso quick with the fast engine will make opponents miss shots consistently, and allow you to roll damage easily. Why tank when your enemy will miss their shots?

I've found over time that around 60 leg armor and 24 leftarm armor is best. I usually can get out of the way of strikes and try to take advantage of the armor in my left arm.

JR-7F(C) at 725mc thats a cheap XL300.

Best way to convert MC to Cbills! That is over 6 million Cbills for $15.

Actually, this is the Dragon Slayer build I was running.

http://mwomercs.com/...le/page__st__80

I don't think 2 Jumpjets is necessary.

For Caustic, I did use 2xPPC 1xGauss. An ERPPC is unnecessary because pretty much everything is in range and the map is too damn hot.

The ERPPC works on every map that isn't ridiculously hot like Terra Therma or Caustic.

Hmm.....while you all are here, do you bunch use macros to sync fire the PPCs and Gauss, or is manual preferred?

I do not use a macro to sync the PPCs and Gauss. nor do I use arm-lock :P makes the build very difficult to use but the benefits outweigh the negatives.

If you are worried about heat using the ERPPC, downgrade to XL340 for another heatsink or two.

Being Canyons, there wasn't much cover for us to move up under.

What? Canyon is nothing but channels of cover all over the place.

XL 350 is necessary for the 4 DHS inside due to crit slot problems. 340/345 only have 3 internal DHS. It wouldn't work other than with a 350. It's actually the best choice for the purpose.
This is how I'd ride:DRAGON SLAYER

Edit: Added my "version" of this DS

OK, one more heatsink plus one more JJ/ton of Gauss ammo/ton of armor.

Ok, I got ya. The original DS had only 15 DHS and you wanted one more. Np with a XL 340 you are absoltly right. But you cant go to 17 DHS with an XL340 what was my goal as someone pointed out that an ERPPC requires at least 17DHS to work.
But "touchè" one more DHS with an 340, mission accomplished. I'd rather prefer 17DHS and more agility in torsotwisting but at this point it comes down to a matter of taste I think...

Indirect fired LRMs arc up, over and into the long fire lane canyons.

Canyons are open low ground -- about as bad a place to defend as can be. The small area makes it even worse for dodging incoming fire.

I could see getting stuck in one of the long lanes, but maybe because I tend to stick to mediums (and don't have ggclose level opponents) that finding cover on that map is easy. It's a great flanking map, imo - but then again, I'm rarely in something slower than 80+.

Gauss gives you more alpha potential (does more damage, is more accurate, causes no heat) in trade for less brawling dps which ac5s will give you.

Also it sounds really cool when you shoot it and for that reason alone it is the only sniper ballistic I ever use!!

Edit: Canyon is pretty terrible map for hiding from lrms, especially if you want more then 3 people under cover from just a single boat lol.

Kinda says something, doesn't it?

You know I was playing tabletop yesterday. (Megamek actually, so rolls weren't in my control).

4 mediums versus 4 mediums. The mechs that jumped could barely hit anything; mostly misses. When they did hit they weren't particularly good hits at all. Meanwhile the mechs that stayed on the ground had incredible accuracy.
