There's no meta. You're on an island.
LMAO your nuts....no meta...look at the build of ALL of those DS....save one they were 2 AC 5 and 2 PPC builds with JJ. Same goes for the majority of the Shadow Hawks and the Cataphracts. Is what it is, but to say there is no Meta builds in this game is ludicrous.
That being said....buying the Dragon Slayer tonight...i will then own all the hero mechs save the new Raven, and that missile Jenner...just no interest in those two..
On a side note, anyone have a solid build for the Misery....for the life of me i cannot find a build I am happy running. Thnx.

I expect the PPC/AC5/Gauss big guys to have most armor up front, for obvious reasons, but THIS ^ I didn't see coming.. Both builds with only 1 armor in the back? For the Spider, ok maybe, he's facing them most of the time with ERLL, but still.. And the Jenner, anyone know what's going on here..?

The AC5/PPC one is surprising only because of 5JJ's.. Feels like a lot, but then again, only 0.5 Tons anyway.
The other one is the odd man out here: SSRMS, but no BAP or TAG, and STD with AC20.. Kinda weird, but looks fun to play! Kudos for the ONLY build using both Missiles (of ANY kind), AND having a non-gauss, non-AC5, close-up ballistic gun!

Well.. Do we really need SIX links to Smurfys to show what they've got? Only thing new I'm getting out of this is varying # of JJ's, some builds still using only 1. Interesting..

Well the tourney was mostly skilled players, so LRMS were not in attendance.

I play a mostly poking style, staying on the outside of the fight and trying to do as much damage as I can from near max optimal range. I tend to let the embers and their more favorable hit boxes do most of the brawling. If a full blown brawl breaks out then I should be able to enter the fight without too much risk of being a high priority target. The Jenner front CT hitbox is so huge that it needs as much armor as possible to give it any survivability, and it would sacrifice far too much front armor to make the Jenner able to survive any reasonable high damage pinpoint alpha from the rear anyways.
PS: I don't think I've ever been rear cored in a comp match. Maybe by an arty strike, but that would be my own dumb ass fault for being in an arty strike in a light.

The lurk is strong with me, and honestly so much that gets posted on these forums is mindless drivel I tend to just stay out of it. I don't mind answering a genuine question that specifically relates to me though.

Even with standard armor layouts, that should be the strategy. I am honestly surprised that more don't die from Air/Arty strikes, though...

It's a matter of who you tell the truth to and what kind of truth. I'm only delving in truths that are proven and anyone can see. At least I try to stay in that realm. The shovel for digging and the flashlight for exploring closets are always left at home.
I'd like to think that everything I do is positive, even the cynical things that point out flaws and fallacies in PGI's vision that are leading to problems.
If you need help filming, Zhizhu's members who haven't given up completely on MWO are limited, but we'll help you out in the name of Battletech. Besides, you seen what Lordred's had to do to make the game look even remotely 'modern' compared to other games. His video quality is pretty fantastic too.

Hey Willothius;
To answer your question I simply do not get killed through the rear armour enough in a spider to warrant putting any armour there. I realize this will not work for everyone, I just would rather have my armour up front to roll damage. If you find yourself dying to rear shots, feel free to bump it up to your liking.
In a light mech you are king of positioning. If you kill me through the rear armour I go out positioned, but if I play my cards right you should never have an easy shot at my rear.
Also with loading the front of my mech so heavily I feel more confident squaring up to my target since I will be able to absorb at least one high damage pinpoint alpha.
You will notice we all have personal flare in our builds. This is just fine tuning to suit our different play styles after 1000's of match's.
I know some things look a little crazy, but we are light mech pilots after all
