[The Flying Gecko]

So I'm in my Jenner and I'm camping out near the tunnel in the forest map, when... POW! Engine Destroyed! I still have full armor on my torso!
No, I didn't over heat.
No, I'm clearly within the map boundaries.
I may have said the lords name in vain....

The paper doll does not always update in time upon death. There are very legitimate moments when a kill-shot pierces all of your armor and kills your engine instantly, while the paper doll still shows full armor. It's rare, but it does happen, and I think it's more common among the higher pings.

That said, yeah, that is a WEIRD death screen. I'm assuming you got smacked from behind by a swayback, but who knows, really.

It says he was destroyed by himself...... If someone had shot him we should have seen their name,

I think it may have been the new easy button insta-kill consumable available for just 10,000 MC each.

Clearly this is not the case. I was killed by "The Flying Gecko" (that's me) and the only damage report indicates the only thing that hit me was a glancing blow to my legs from a medium laser.

How does the "DESTROYED BY: The Flying Gecko" fit into this explanation?

I wasn't moving, the screen-shot puts me well within the map boundaries.

It looks exactly like an OOB death, but you're still in the playing field.

There is a spot right in that particular area where the the OOB extends a bit farther than it really should, I've nearly gotten myself killed by it a few times. You don't happen to have Betty turned off, do you?

Alternatively, did you see any sort of connectivity issues before or prior to this? I wouldn't be surprised if rubberbanding/packetloss was to blame. Actually, I can't think of an explanation that would surprise me. Thanks, PGI.

On the bright side, that's a dang nice score for getting instakilled 3.5 minutes in.

I had something similar happen to me.


My Hunchback lost both side torsos, but was able to keep an arm, for several minutes (until I was destroyed). Ignore the weird loadout.

Wrath 1 I think you just explained it. I used my jump-jets to get over that hill where the boundary comes in. I WAS out of bounds briefly but died a little after I landed on the other side. Must have been a lag issue!!

OOB death. you are actually clearly near the boundary and the lines you see on the map doesn't always correspond to actual OOB areas.

Furthermore to the boundary hypothesis, I've not been warned on multiple occasions that I am out of bounds. And yes, the lines on the map do not accurately correspond to the actual boundaries.

retry the position to see if that out of bounds stuff may actually happen within the bounds.

Or do we have an Eject button now?

This reminds me of star trek online. When you join a PVE or PVP map at the end of the match your ship will come back at the earth space dock or antwhere else practcly self distruct even with full shilds and hull. Maybe something happend with you.

i launched my orbital facepalm cannon once on hpg because i took the wall shortcut, spider followed me and blow up.
there is a short section where you are at the edge of the map there. so he might get the same problem as you did.

Well it shows you fought 3 enemy Mechs prior to dying. You were shot and killed by medium lasers... Possible you were back cored by a Hunchback-4P?
