Returning To 3049 - Feedback

1) Though there may be more mechs in the pre-3050 timeline, we're running out of mechs that have at least 3 variants in the pre-3050 timeline. At the current rate that mechs are being added, PGI will run out of 3 variant mechs rather soon. Don't get me wrong, I know there are still some favorites left (mauler, zeus, flea etc), but at 1 IS mech / month, can we burn out a year with them? That's 12 new mech chassis. Keep in mind that some mechs aren't included because of gameplay reasons (axeman, hatchetman, any mech with a-pods, quad mechs, mechs with Arrow IV or Longtoms). Removing weapons or equipment that would otherwise take up weight and space doesn't necessarily solve the problem with them. For example, what do you replace an axe with? What weapon can replace an Arrow IV? I imagine PGI would steer away from trying to shoehorn these mechs into new roles.
Even if there was a vast abundance of these mechs left, a lot of them become very similar to each other.
2) There are a lot of favorite mechs in the 3055 time frame that we are now (once again) 6 years away from. This includes the rest of the variants for many IS mechs that would otherwise be excluded due to the 3 variant minimum. These mechs can breathe a bit of new life into the game, and they include a number of IS mechs that can directly compete with clan counterparts.
As before, my recommendation would be one of two actions:
1) Have a single pool for experimental or single variant mechs. Once you own 3 mechs in the pool, you can max them out as normal, as well as any you purchase afterwards.
2) Add them to their own chassis types as normal, but require 1.5x or 3x the exp to master them. In other words, a Bushwacker BSW-X1 would be by itself in the Bushwacker chassis type. However, in order to max it out, you need 3x the normal amount of xp for each unlock. If both the BSW-X1 and BSW-X2 are added, then each one requires 1.5x the normal amount of xp.
I think I'll do another post with the remaining chassis and the variants available in the current timeline, just to get an idea of the number of IS and Clan mechs that can be added before moving to 3055.

The timeline only applies to Community Warfare...
..so, technically, it did freeze
I think they will have plenty of Mechs on both sides of the fence to make this game fun, and like said before, if they need to include Mechs with only 2 variants then they can make up a new standard one (to make 3) and a new Hero to go with it.

can you change my 3050 hologram to 3049 please?
kthxbye
Sure, if you want to pretend you weren't supporting the game during development. I mean, sure, there are plenty of people who are "embarrassed" to say that they helped the Mechwarrior franchise come back to life. I'm not one of them, though. I'd prefer to hold onto my trinkets that I accumulated throughout the Betas and Launch. You know, to keep the timeline intact

...now your trying to rewrite the history books...
Clan invasion, what clan invasion, oh you mean that handful of people on the edge of the periphery with the funny looking mechs? There tech was roughly equivalent to our own, but we massively outnumbered them…so yeah….
Can't wait to read 'The Blood of, oh wait, never mind the invasions over' series...
and the battle cry of the clanners was "This is BALANCE!!!!"
but on the topic of pressing reset on the time line...meh, don't see why not, there hasn't exacly been any plot points to any of the mindless grinding of the last year or so.
of coarse it's not like anything i said would influence the outcome one way or another, or for that matter, even if the community cried out in a unified voice, pleading with you not to do it, there would be a post that night about how much everyone seems to be enjoying it...
oh god, i've become cynical...just... just... <sigh> just try to keep it fun...

Some have suggested that the Clans will be pushed back early, but in CW this is unlikely because we elite Liao mechwarriors won't be fighting the Clans.
Still prefer to fight for the Magistracy of Canopus actually, but in CW I'm not sure what they could accomplish, apart from escort pleasure circuses as they traverse the Inner Sphere...

YAY!!!!!!!
Thank you, PGI.
In late 3049 is when, like many of the leaders in the Inner Sphere, the baton is passed from Colonel David Wolf to the character I am playing, now, Kay Wolf, who is supposed to be something of an upstart prodigy, but still young and naive enough to need guidance. I thought this changeover would lend to an atmosphere where new MechWarrior's coming into AU for MWO would be able to have the feeling they're contributing to the unit, because that's an actuality. However, you also have the turmoil of a startup business, or at least a business changing leaders, and you can learn to work and fight together more efficiently.
For those interested in stories of how this has been taking place, take a look here! Everyone should be able to read in this part of the forums, if not participate directly, especially in this story. I have seven more chapters to write, and I intend to write them ahead of time, and then post them on their appropriate dates.
I only wish there were a way I could get my forum to register as 3049 rather than 2014.

3049 means no wolfhound.
Right now your going to be seeing random bucket drops of both Clan, and IS mechs. That's not very cannon.
We haven't seen any new maps created in a while. A huge community warfare issue. You don't have enough maps for mass community warfare.
I am all for a rollback. There are other issues that need to be addressed.
A light, rugged, and dependable design, the Wolfhound made its first appearance in 3028
Sarna.net
Also Check the books. Wolfhound (IS) is available before the invasion starts.

Looks like PGI managed to chase off all of there free to play players, so the paying people have to wait 10 minutes to get a match to shoot other $500 gold mechs.
My hopes for CW actually being worth the wait are not very high. And I'm only expressing my opinion on the forums BECAUSE I liked this game. First off I'm not sure WHAT CW is even supposed to be. I can't imagine ANYTHING that isn't going in the end be grinding the same darn maps over and over. Adding a map of the inner sphere with some faction markings on it ISN'T going to make Terra Therma more fun. Also PGI's silence on CW has been deafening. There complete failure to flesh out the idea has cost them a lot of players and sadly the clans addition to the game has made the problem more acute.
I remember the outrage on the forums when they announced the clans and said nothing of CW. Then PGI gave a new timeline and they have hit the dates so far, but the content has been subpar at best. I remember in Dec UI 2.0 was "the bottleneck". Feb we get UI 2.0, but it utterly failed to CHANGE the game.
Now they have given us the clans and they changed the game but it is for the worse not better. AND in the end you are still grinding the same maps for no reason.
I wanted to buy clan mechs. I really did. My wife even said that I could spend $240. But with out some REAL info on CW the answer is hell no.
PGI for the love of all that I good. WTF is CW going to actually be/do in game?

You clearly didn't test the same game I did. The clans have been extremely balanced. I've had no problems killing them, or killing with them.
They are very balanced in both heat, damage, speed, and maneuverability against IS mechs. They are absolutely NOT pay to win.
Also, what do you have against Terra Therma? It's hands down, the best designed map in the game.

He has got to be trolling - there is no other excuse for some of his comments.
Oh, and most people dislike Terra Therma because it very harshly punishes poor heat management skills (which many players are horrible at already). We had a thread going a few months back, and Terra Therma tended to be in the top three "winning" maps for almost everyone in the thread, even though the majority of them said they highly disliked the map even after knowing that.
