I had a team kill just a few moments ago. First ever. Was that me specifically or just someone from my team? I don't remember killing a team mate, but there was a nasty close quarters melee involving 4 on 3 that was confusing and deadly.

it happens easily, just a team mate moving into line of fire and a laser caressing an open area and triggering an ammo explosion or critical hit on the engine. It happens

pro tip: check your fire when friendlies are in the cross.

they need to re-add the death penalties and tk penalties. this isnt call of duty, its mechewarrior.

If you push the button hard enough, your shot will go through your friends, and into the enemy!

I had a TK last night. I had a clear line of sight with a cataphract (was on 3x zoom) and firing away. He was focussing another mech so I moved out from the building and opened up. On maybe my 3rd or 4th volley a cicada ran across my ML and my ultras and I saw an explosion. I'm pretty sure only a single shot AC5 shell hit him.

Wasn't sure if i just cored him, or ammo explosion. but he was really angry in chat. Screaming at me to watch my fire. I don't think I personally was responsible for the death, as he crossed my firing line which I had been utilizing for prob 4-5 solid seconds, but I apologized of course. It's merely a game.

Other players were telling him to calm down, but it just got really ugly. So. Lesson. It's a game guys. TK's are going to occur. It's happened to me before as well.. We all do the best we can to keep our weapons on target, but sometimes Friendly fire happens.. Move on.

Someone has to ask the devs to add a subforum called "Apologies" for topics like this.

Imagine if everyone who feels bad for a "oops I killed you or Srry for the TK last night" started a thread.

-1 from me.

This happens...often.

Lesson to lights, and any other mech on the move. Be aware where you are. More importantly be aware where your team mates are. FF can't be helped if you wander in between an Assault and his target while he is blasting away. Guess who's fault it is. Not the Assaults (who is most likely zoomed in to help target damage to a specific area and has no peripheral vision until you fill it with your back torso).

Can't tell you how many times a night this happens to me. I am blasting away - from 250 meters or so, and some jerk jumps between me and the target in a heavy trying to get their one or two hits in (with plenty of room for their own firing lane if they would just have some situational awareness), or a some fast moving light decides to run 5 meters away from the target to blast away with a medium laser and winds up eating an AC20/AC10 combo. The first should have been avoided, the second is avoidable.

I don't apologize for other peoples stupid actions. Consequences teach lessons as well as words (and often better) is my philosophy

I had one last night on Terra Therma. I was around 60ish meters almost face hugging a stalker with my 4x MG, 2x LBX DD and a team mate ran right in between the stalker and me. I think 8 MG bullets hit his side rear and we went down. I didn't even have time to react. I didn't feel bad about that one. ;)

I didn't even know it happened to me until after the game when I was looking at the game stats, I was surprised. I get a lot of friendlies running into my fire and I just shake my head. I do what I can but if I'm engaged with an enemy mech and I don't have peripheral vision and you run in between us not much I can do except say sorry lol.

So I don't have to tell it to even more people in PMs.

This sub-forum exists, so you can share your good times and your bad times in MWO. This thread is about a bad time and has the same right to exist and to be talked about, then the next about a glorious battle on <enter map name> or about the heroic pilot <enter pilot name>.

I've seen the opposite happen too.
I find a guy alone, start in on him in my light, next thing I know somebody on my side
is pouring in fire from a distance. I get hit often like that, but luckily not TK'd often.
Usually have to break off the attack and let the big guys do the job. ( And get the dmg points
and kills. ) Oh well.........

No worries, I had one the other day where we had a Stalker between us and one lone stray srm hit my team mates tore to heck Atlas in the CT and BOOM, dead. It happens, it's not that bad when a stray shot glimpses your team mate and kills him. Now if you're a dumb pugger who doesn't care who is in front and tries to shoot through team mates to get a kill that's a different story.

This, if I walk into the line of fire of a team mate and get killed I would not expect an apology for my own stupid mistake. All I do ask for is, do not try to kill a enemy mech through my mech, my mech will still stop your bullets until my mech dies.

Also if you see a friendly mech brawling a enemy mech and you want to help (help is always appreciated I am not kill hungry more win hungry) pace your shots and try not to hit the friendly, that means if you are boating all the lasers and AC's you could find don't mash down on the button.

Had a brawler Stalker point-blank me in the back with a full alpha-strike for using the Command feature to place attack orders on two of the conquest points.
