They are temp fixes but they are not going too solve the problem. When a nerf or buff happens people can just switch what ever weapon they want or engine with no thought too how that mech or variant of that mech was created too be used. Which is why it makes 2/3 of the mechs obsolete in comp play cause now you have just a handful of mechs that can do the same jobs as other mechs. I mean sure its fun too build stuff but in a balanced game world its just asking for balance problems. MWLL mech lab was going too be based on a slot system where it would be like you have a med laser in that arm so only SL,SPL,ML or MPL could fit there but you have a AC 20 so now you can fit a large AC weapon and so on.
To be honest, TT had no balance as well. There were comp lists for each BV level, and you ran those if you wanted to be competitive. No one would run the Summoner 1, when they could run the Summoner 2.
In competitive play, you can't have all mechs be viable. I have NEVER seen a game where all options were viable, in competitive play.
