lol... So people can either read 500 pages of the same 5 people complaining about the stupidest things ever, or read what the impartial mod actually SAID was the reason he shut it down?

Yah, good luck with that. The fact is the incessant trolling and personal attacks from the Islanders ended that thread, and for good reason. CIG doesn't want those people hanging around their forum any more than PGI wants them here. Or any game developer for that matter.

I have no idea about the BC Canada part, but as someone who read through that thread and stayed out of the directed parts, let's just say the class A act of riling people up was rather obvious.

Anyways cool pics kh0rn - to this day MW:LL still looks amazing. That enormous Death Valley map is one of my favs. I really need to get back into it since I haven't played multiplayer MW anything in a long time. I think I might have some old game-play footage and screenshots sitting on my HDD still.

This is still the damn best Mad Cat 3D model in a MW game:

So here's my question. Pursuant to the previous ones I made before:

Why are no more mechs being developed, if people are running it? If it's for free, there is no threat to the copy right? Right? Or did I miss something?

Well first off the original dev team holds the encryption keys for the mod so even if we could there is no way of putting them into the mod. Second due too the project being shut down we are not allowed too create any new assets cause that was spiral into chaos, Only maps are allowed too be created and yes it is totally free not a single cent is needed. MWLL had a free license from Microsoft too go a head and make the mod. Hence why two unseen mechs could be added ( Rifleman and warhammer)

It looks amazing, but it'd be a disaster with a real audience. Nothing but PPC, Gauss, LRMs, and maybe large lasers, because there's no cover and thus no capacity for brawling. And if the game doesn't allow customization, the audience would just run to the chassis that gave them their weapons (i.e. assaults). Just like the previous MW iterations, highly questionable from a balance standpoint.

I'm also curious how well it runs. Wide-open maps have to render the entire playspace and actually end up performing worse than closed-in maps with terrain to block lines of sight, like MWO's.

Each asset has its good sides and bad sides no asset can be the ultimate mech. And unfortunately people are too use too just using what they want with open customization which is the bottom of the balance problem of MWO too much freedom. They are never going too balance with total freedom its a constant back and forth. Also you can't just get too assaults you have too work your way up and even then Lights and meds are still viable cause the distance from base too base is fairly long brining fasting assets too begin hit and fade attacks, Brawling happens just about every where even on the large scale maps cause the entire combat system plays differently , every thing from the heat scale , radar and combat model as well as performance this game runs better then MWO for myself it is a older system after all MWO renders every thing on the map at once MWLL renders only what you see. Mwll has over 146 maps with various terrain for various fighting. With the mechlab cut off players are not sent in too use their mech or tank much the same as a real pilot would unable too change it but use it as it was intended making so you need too learn the strengths and weakness of each asset.

N:B remember their mech lab was not allowed too be put into action they had a 95% working mechlab but it was restrictive based on balance.

That I'll agree with. Full customization was bound to create problems. I still think the combination of Ghost Heat and a quirk system could serve as an effective layer, but...

So it isn't required to buy Crysis in order to play Living Legends? Or am I way off?

They are temp fixes but they are not going too solve the problem. When a nerf or buff happens people can just switch what ever weapon they want or engine with no thought too how that mech or variant of that mech was created too be used. Which is why it makes 2/3 of the mechs obsolete in comp play cause now you have just a handful of mechs that can do the same jobs as other mechs. I mean sure its fun too build stuff but in a balanced game world its just asking for balance problems. MWLL mech lab was going too be based on a slot system where it would be like you have a med laser in that arm so only SL,SPL,ML or MPL could fit there but you have a AC 20 so now you can fit a large AC weapon and so on.
