Classic across the board. They all look much better then their counterparts. But that doesn't mean I don't think they could be better.

Ghost bear: The head is amazing and exactly what I would want to see, but I find it odd that the "Star" and claws have been reduced in size and now the head is a prominent feature rather then a central figure in a balanced field. Wouldn't have minded the new claws eihter as long as they got rid of that terrible white to dark grey gradient that looks terrible at game icon scale.

Jade Falcon: I do love the new version of this one, but I feel that while the individual image looks good as a forum icon, I don't feel like it would work as good as a "Logo" when you star plastering it on medallions and the like. Image is weighted a bit heavy on the left hand side and the field acts more as a "base" then a field, if you looked at the center of the center mass of the image, you get the tip of the field in the negative space rather then the actual falcon. If they centered the newer image more like the older one so its a bit more balanced of an Icon, I would like it better then the original, but as it stands, I think the original makes a much better balanced Icon, but I do like the new one as an illustation.

Wolf: Man, that wolf head is just perfect as a logo. The other one looks flat, cartoony, and super busy next to it. This is another one that I like the new image as something OTHER then a logo. It would make great nose art, but doesn't work out well as a logo. Only thing about the "classic" interpretation I don't like is the feild with the stars, which seems a bit too narrow and reads like a stick when scaled down. But overall, Classic all the way.

Jaguar: I feel bad for the jaguars. I gotta be honest, I don't like either interpretation. The New one's "pure black" panther was a misstep that makes it look like a black hole, and the saturated red on the sun stands out so much more when the panther itself is pure black. But then the new one I feel is just a poor interpretation of the older style. The HEAVY linework on the jaguar makes it inflated and looks like a cartoon. (Take that stroke operation down a few pixels.) I like the sillohette of the original one, but I feel the interpretation of it here is not up to the same level of polish as the others. If they did the Ghost bear "head" treatment on the original sillohette, I think the classic would be much better for it. For this one, I gotta be honeset and say that I just don't like either. But as far as logo layouts, I like the original better, but just wished the excecution was up to the same standard as the GB and Wolf logo.

That being said though, thanks for listening to the community guys. These logo's are a fantastic step up from the "revised" look that went a bit off the reservation.

And speaking from an old BG point of view, Its not that we don't like new interpretations, its that we still want the same "feel" of the originals to be there. If you improve on what is there, we honestly don't mind (as many have pointed out with the JF logo.)

Even in the original game, you don't see fans reminiscing on the original Nova Cat and Steel Viper logos:



Ultimately though, the fans want overall improvements to what is there. Not radicle interpretations, (although you can keep those new ones and sell them as cockpit flags and I'm sure people will buy them.)

The "american flag" statement comes up a ton, and it has indeed changed over the years. But the overall essence and "Point" to the flag remains in tact. You don't see them suddenly changing the blue field of stars over to the right side of the flag over the left. Sure all the components are there, but it completely changes the look.

I hope this is taken to heart when the next round of clan factions come out. (As even the current steel viper logo can go for some massive improvements and I don't think even hard line BT fans would care.)

I voted Modern, but:

I like the classic Wolf better.

Modern Ghost Bear's head tilt is annoying.

The Smoke effect in Jaguar was kinda cool.

I voted for the Modern,cause some of them i would prefer over the original/classic logos.

Dont get me wrong,i really like the classics. But when i look at them,there is that little voice in my head,that say:"Look it was a good time,but the 90´s are gone."

The classics look to me more like something i would see on the field, painted on a mech...the new looks more like something i would see in the recruiting posters, back at HQ. voted classic.

Finally had to chime in on this, because I've decided that the nerd rage over this and the subsequent nerd crusade is just the most ridiculous thing ever.

The new ones look like logos for sports teams and the old ones look like old logos for the same sports teams. Sports teams change or revamp their logo and uniform artwork every once in a while- my favorite sports team has changed their logos and uniform theme at least four times in the twenty something years I have been watching them, and I still recognize them as the same team just fine...in our situation here, the new art and the old art don't even look that far different...

So drop the nerd-hurt, the new logos look good, and the old logos look old. +1 votes for New Logos.

(Also, the new higher-rez Clan banners match the higher-rez IS banners we already have that nobody ever complained about....so there's that point in favor of the new logos too.)

In my opinion, I'm quite torn between the two sets. The old Ghost Bear and Wolf insignia are much better than the new ones, the new Smoke Jaguar seems to just edge ahead a little in my opinion and I'm really not sure about the new Jade Falcon insignia; the colours are more vivid but Turkina (The Jade Falcon on the insignia) looks more like a small songbird than a bird of prey...her talons also look rather detached from her body. Overall I'd have to go for the new Jade Falcon as it looks more like a bird than a bird shaped blob.

To be fair, our original logo was not bad at all. The SLDF Nova Cat emblem, however, looks incredible. Who are we to complain? Plus, not that many of us to praise or deride either CSV or CNC. We were never particularly popular Clans in the players' eyes.

I'm a Nova Cat fan by way of the Spirit Cats from MW:DA....if Nova Cats were being offered as an option for available faction, I would actually consider switching banners. (Except I am in a Davion guild and am mostly content with that.)

The difference here is it is whining about art. I voted for the classic design, as I already explained way back on page 1, but I sympathize with the person you responded to because I feel the same way. It isn't that there were complaints about the new logos - it was the CRUSADE that arose because of some pretty small differences in opinion.

Look through the responses on this thread. Even though the voting is pretty lopsided, the vast, vast majority of people have made the comment that they wish you could vote for them individually, as some modern designs are better than the classic ones, and vice versa.

If you take an objective look at the classic logos, and compare them to the complaints about the modern ones, you will see a lot of complaints just to complain. There is not a single logo - classic, original, or modern - that I think is 100% perfect. Every one of them can still be improved in my eyes, and every one of them has something I like better than the other versions. Thats why the phrase "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" is so true, and the crusade to revert them to the original designs is so annoying to me, even though, as I said, I still voted for the classic designs for certain reasons (I just did it reluctantly).

I am glad they cared enough to do a slight refresh of the original art. Clearly many people did not like the new look, myself included.Also take into account that when clan packs were first pitched for sale they were featured with classic art logos. So I am sure many people feel they are not getting what they paid for or felt they were being misled.
