Somebody talk me into it!
Even if you never use it again, you can just delete the test files at any time.
It really is fun to get a preview into things, so... DO IT!!

the only reasoning behind it is I would need some Inner Sphere people on the field to test and fight against them to see if it really is balanced (because testing can't possibly cover everything and often doesn't cover most common trends).

Since many were asking, I just got a double confirmation that the SRM Fix will indeed be included not just in next week's patch but also in tomorrow's test.
Of course, you must realize that when someone says "GOOD NEWS EVERYONE!" there is a suicide mission involved...
Hopefully my poor clan mechs can succeed in this suicide mission and not be blown into scrap! I hope to have tons of fun tomorrow trying out different builds and playing around. Thanks for this opportunity to not only test the mechs but give them a test drive!

They tried once.
....It wasn't well received.
I personally liked it, though I figure the speech was probably too long (not for me but it seemed to be a trend in the comments) and the montage completely unrelated to the whole build up they lined us in for (that's kinda what killed it for me; but the video's intention is about the Kurita battlemech the Kintaro and not about the fight they built up for with the speech).
You could look at these as well to get you kinda psyched up.

I was all excited about the "clan test" until I read that "ONLY" those who pre-ordered Clan mech get to actually test them. I mean seriously, what is the point of that? Those people will be getting their mechs in a few days anyway so why not open the "test" to those of us who didn't pre-order. I mean hell if I got to test them, maybe I would jump in at the last moment and pre-order one or more, or perhaps spend some MC on one to get it earlier.
Honestly, the way PGI does stuff really makes me wish I would never have dropped the $210 they suckered me out of on pre-orders in the past.
Was getting ready to log in a play a bit tonight, but this news has soured me on that idea. Time to go play Warthunder I guess.

I had forgotten about that. I don't really mind the speech, but yeah, the random action scenes are... well, random. But the first part isn't horrible. Just needs more happening.
I'm a writer. I'll be happy to volunteer my services for a few scripts! (And no, I'm totally not digging up old tabletop RPG campaigns...)

Because PGI actually wants some people to play IS mechs instead of everyone (or mostly everyone) playing Clan mechs. Having Clan mechs open to everyone would very likely reduce the number of IS mechs used during the test which would compromise the amount of test data PGI would receive in regards to how IS and Clan mechs interact with each other. This "test" would be less test and more preview.

very clever PGI, we know nothing will come of this test just like the 3 used for UI 2.0 but the impatient will cough up.

So, how about someone at PGI go and add a few (like 8) of them to his account. It's not only useful for you as well as the player base, but he has darned well also deserved it.
