World Cup? You mean your boring sport analog that replaces your nationalistic fervor for failed or lost imperial holdings? No thanks. I'd rather watch paint dry.

Oh the world cup is soccer? I thought it was an effort to strip a country already inadequate to host the olympics of even more of their tax money while their people live in poverty.....

From that description I could have sworn they were holding the world cup at the Pontiac Silverdome.

World cup...that's what the Italian diving team plays in right?

But in all seriousness, you can't appease anyone, world cup is pretty boring to watch until late in the finals.

Sorry but pick a team and watch for 2 hours then go test, it's 12 hours for the love of god everyone at work here is leaving to go home to watch....turn on the TV and MWO DONE.

And it's FOOTBALL people...I'm Canadian and call it that sheesh....then there is American/Canadian Grope ball.

You say that like it's a sports organisation's fault for the way Brazil's government spends its funding. It's a shameful situation.

Well... FIFA sucks. They take all the money that is made with them when they leave... its not like they give Brazil Grants or give them ticket sales...

So much yes. I'd love some sort of "Mechball" game mode. Needs collisions though. :P Every mech gets a modified "narc" like device for passing the "ball."

Touche'.

Anyone know if the test is just clan mechs or the whole 6/17 patch?

I won't have time to log into it, but if the SRM fix is on test as well I'm interested in hearing how that goes.

Watch this clip that John Oliver did about FIFA and what it is getting away with in Brazil. Language! so NSFW or kiddos.

Who the hell schedules a major playtest at the exact same time as the start of the World Cup? Really? You sell all those flags to adorn the interior of our mechs and it doesn't dawn on you what most of the citizens of the world will be doing at 2:15 PM EST on June 12th 2014?

Love to play with the new toys but unfortunately there is something bigger going on.

wake me when the important games start. Besides, you should have plenty of time to play between scores.

I'm American, and I care. I also watch WestHam and the Columbus Crew when possible. And will likely add one of the local Mexican teams to my itinerary now that I live here. Quite a bit more of America watches these days than you realize.

Just not fixating on 1 game magically taking up all 12 hours.

(Whereas if it were football season, yes the whole day is taken up watching football)

LOL ... what a silly complaint to make.

There is one game today. Brazil vs Croatia at 4pm eastern. Perhaps someone is keen enough that they watch the opening ceremony starting at 2:15pm EDT. Maybe they have a beer after the game until 7pm. The play test runs 1pm to 1am Eastern. Lots of hours left unless you happen to be in Brazil and party before and after ... in which case MWO is probably the furthest thing from your mind.

If you choose not to participate in the test then it is because you don't want to and has NOTHING to do with the football.

World cup is running for weeks ... the world doesn't come to a stop while it is on :P

I have no issue with flaming PGI for poor decisions or for lack of communication but honestly, the scheduling of this test is not one of them. (If anything I think the first test should have been some weeks ago so that player feedback could be meaningful ... and so that this test could have been the second or third open test).
