Until June 17th anyways. My Adder spoiled me way too much and it was just way too much fun to throw an LBX20 or UAC20 on it and watch mechs disintegrate in front of me while they were aiming for a much meatier teammate.

In related news, I'm selling pretty much every piece of IS tech I own outside of hero mechs.

Yeah the lights were fantastically fun. Just pretend that they're super mediums and get your dakking in ASAP: before the nerfs and/or IS lights learn to start running from you sooner.

I played everything up to the Timberwolf. All were good and unique. The matches were all very close majority of the time. I felt really bad for the IS mechs that got stuck in the onslaught because they simply got picked a part. Hopefully IS mechs will get a buff and we will get some role warfare or something that in CW will put the Clans at some disadvantage.

Saw a few IS mechs here and there, they almost had to be played like clan lights with how quickly they got torn apart. I think part of it is because everyone focused on them first for some reason. Running an XL in an IS mech is also pretty much guaranteed death if you come up against a clan mech or four.

Mad props to everybody I dropped with for not legging my gold Adder at the start of the match even once. Heck, no one even tapped me from behind with a machine gun or anything.

Heh. Never bothered changing it, I was just like "eh my name is Japanese, Kurita is Japanese, I'll go with it" a few months ago.

The IS mechs I did see usually did reasonably well as long as they weren't the target of a Dire Wolf's wall of bullets. There honestly wasn't enough of them on test to even be able to tell if they were underpowered, balanced or even overpowered (ha, right). Hopefully the numbers are a bit more even come the 17th and we'll be able to see for sure one way or the other.

I really want to play my Summoner and Stormcrow, those two were by far the funnest for me. And Sephlock, loved your Leeroy into my SRM cloud, made me laugh.

Impossibru!

Khobai and the doom brigade have told us all Clan Lights are DOA since they were announced! They cannot be fun/useful to play!

The thing that really got me was that even running with a single autocannon felt fun as hell.

Granted, it was fun to do the whole PPC Jenner/Commando thing too, but that wears thin after a while. Sometimes you just want to run fast and dakka, even if it's single-weapon dakka.

I only played my Blackjack, Shadowhawk, and Ember. I played both like I normally do. With the exception that SRMs actually seemed to work on my SH. But I guess since I don't try to tank shots from anyone. I didn't have trouble fighting the Clans. They were usually more concerned with Clan Assaults and Heavies anyway.

But I want to see some footage of Clan versus IS matches. Then we'll see just how "balanced" it is.

I only got to play 4 games before work. From what I could tell
lrm locks sucked. Any bit of cover and the modules dropped the lock and missiles dont continue in the same direction but fly out.
Brawling didnt work they all stand next to each other because they, re so slow.
Fast mech with long range attacks works the best.
Im going to end up selling half my is mechs too. Anything slow is trash now.

I ran my Atlas DC alot and did just fine. I even went toe to toe with a Dashi and got a kill. I will say this test was not exactly balanced. You had a mix of IS and Clan mechs dropping hodgepoge.

What will be interesting is in 2 weeks when you see all clan on one side and IS on the other.

i played my banshee 3M... i survived most matches, had between 1-3 kills most of the time and enough assists and my worst damage was 150 (a match where i died early on...the only one iirr)

didn´t feel like the prey... in fact it was great fun to hunt down clanners :D

We will see in a few weeks B) We were fighting basically trial mechs with no skill and peoples unknown testing setups.

Don't hold your breath, buddy.
We won't see Clan vs IS until Community Warfare comes around - which should be in about a year or something.

It's very frustrating.
The major argument against "Clan vs IS" battles was that there wouldn't be enough Clan Players to fill the teams. From the sounds of it though, the PTS had loads of people running Clan Mechs (people only seeing a handful of IS during the tests) - which means there are more than enough people to have the MM separate Clan and IS onto separate teams for the PUG Queue.
