Mad Dog, The Worst 'mech From The Clan

but, why the Vulture is the worst battlemech?

Because:
8,50 T of Armor
9,50 T of Engine
3,00 T of Gyro
3,00 T of Cockpit
6,00 T of internal Structure
and
2 Large Pulse Laser = 12 tons
2 LRM 20+ 2 Tons of Ammo: 12 tons
2 Medium Pulse Laser= 4 tons
this way we have
58 tons of 60 tons...
so only 2 tons for Double heat Sinks
2 tons
and we have 4 high heat gens weapons (Pulse Lasers)
so if you fire yours lasers you get ridiculous Heat and nothing to dissipate

Do you have some sort of rule that you never use your mechlab to make your own builds?

Did you ever consider dropping the LRM 20's for 15's to add some additional heatsinks? Or learning to moderate (and chain) your fire?

That and only 2 tonnes of LRM ammo seems a little steep for dual LRM 20's

Hate to break it to you - the Mad Dog was a very effective mech in TT for its BPV. The problem here is that Pulses suck and its just seen as a heavy mech in the MM.

this mech isnt even in game yet and you gripe about it, I remember the MW4 oppening sequence, vulture is a good mech.

What I mean is that don't worth to use its prime conf because of the heat generated, but not dissipated...
OF course I would Drop to LRM 15 to get extra Heat Sinks, but you must do this to have a viable 'Mech, and I don't think that the manual should put a mech that is so inefficient in a Lance Fight

drop the Pulse Cannons, fit Laser=Profit.

You think Clan stock loadouts are innefective at dissipating heat? LOL so how do you view IS SHS stock mechs?

I think you are forgetting the Heat Sinks in the engine.

How can the Mad Dog suck? It totally owned both a Timber Wolf and a Summoner in the Mechwarrior 3 intro!

Pulses - in TT and other games were good - here not so much.

Oh you be tripping. The Mad Dog/Vulture is literally the best looking mech in the world of mechs.

I just hope they go with the right base model for the MWO redesign... The classic look!

Notice the awesome laser barrels, the alien curves and the avian silhouette that clearly cries Vulture. As long as they emphasise the traditional features and keep to the original character of the model it could be the best looking mech in MWO too. They almost can't go wrong.

those are the engine heat sinks, its only a 300 XL

Personal thought:

The Mad Dog was one of my favorites from MW2 classic and GBL. Probably my second most piloted behind the Marauder IIC. Yes, I tweaked the machine a lot, but it was fun and I always found room for more ammo and such. Usually what I did is change the pulses to regular lasers.

OT:

Whether or not the Mad Dog would succeed in MWO would probably depend on how the hardpoints and omni parts would work, what slots they would have, and so on. We have no clue, so why accuse it of being junk so soon?

So I embarrassingly forgot to answer the OP in my first post... anyway, all I would do to that loadout is switch out the pulse lasers for ER equivalents and use the spare tonnage for more LRM ammo. Second line support, and a potentially perfect build.

28 tons of weaponry is quite a bit. You choose what you want to throw on there. No JJs, but you can max the armor.

The Mad Dog is great - loved it on the animated cartoon - and Kristen Redmond was a better character then Malthus. Worse clan mech would be the Hunchback IIC - was given to aging warriors and those that dishonored their clan.
