Why Are People So Scared To Fight?

Are people REALLY that scared of getting damaged and destroyed? I'd have much rather they told me to sod off and assaulted the mountain than to shirk from a fight that we set up to happen.

In my experience with MWO, whichever team bides its time for the right moment and then siezes that moment will come out on top. Most teams are more than happy to wait, most especially when it comes to ridge humping and poptarting, so the trick is to get them to sieze the moment when it comes. There's only so much when your only recourse is typing in a small chat window that half the players simply ignore, a quarter deliberately troll, and only a quarter pay attention to (and maybe ten percent of those actually type themselves).

I am against attacking just to attack.. but you have to have a willingness to fight.. a willingness to put yourself in danger. As the adage goes.. if you run, you only assure yourself that you will die tired.
Formulate a plan, be willing to stick with the plan, and you increase your chance of victory.. abandon the plan at the first site of any resistance and you only guarantee failure.

I can accept being destroyed because someone or a group played better than I or my group did.
I, however, do not accept being destroyed because people on my side, who AGREED to a plan, refuse to even follow through with that plan after agreeing to it.

I don't exist for pugs, the pugs exist for me.

If one cares that much about victory then he should just play in groups.

I hate being destroyed game after game cuz the team gets face rolled 12-2 in less then 3 minutes. I try to fire back, but by the time my 64.8 KPH gets into a firing position, its like 1-4, 1-5, 1-6.....I fire back a little, net around 250-400dmg before its over....but in the end, I get face planted as well. Not to say im doing real well, but I feel I do my part, once I am in position to do it. Fight always seems to happen where ever I do not choose to go.
Pugging in this game is even worse for your health then in WoT.

That's the thing that makes no sense. I actually put up a fight and end up way better than those who refuse to do so in the end.
What are they worried about? Their stats? If that is the case, then they should be worried about taking at a minimum one person with them instead of trying to run from a tied of enemy steel that is rolling over everyone else because they don't have the balls to stand and fight.

Well, you are going to have to ask every individual pugger that question because everyone's reasons to hang back are different.

You mean people are sensible enough to value their lives because it is the only one they got? In that case I agree. You got only 1 life per match.

The funny thing is that it only takes minor coordination to have a chance of success in all but organized gameplay in this game.

Because ppl are like this. It describes 50% of pug matches
50%!? Oh dear, god, if it was that low, the game would be alot more enjoyable. Its more like 75% of em just end in 3 minute steamrolls, one side or the other. Another maybe 20% end in 3 or 6-12 and the final 5% end up in close matches, maybe 8-12, 10-12, 11-12.....But yeah, most of them are horrid steamrolls, where nothing we do will change the outcome.

I hate certain maps as well but you can atleast attempt to turn the tide and convince people. Just accepting defeat and not saying anything, not doing anything, will never change anything. I prefer to have the ability to filter out certain maps but until PGI allows that, we have to accept the best we can get instead of being resigned to failure.

Oddly enough, I have the best success on that map....I think ive won a fair portion on it. Canyon network and Crimson Strait, for some reason I am always on the losing side there.

My banes are Canyon Network and River City. I used to love both until they became metatastic maps due to wide open spaces surrounded by ample coverage.
