I know I'm not the only one. But the amount of LRMs before Clan Mechs was bad. Now it's three times as bad. And something needs to be done to quell the amount of mechs allowed into a match that can boat LRM systems and 2-3k+ rounds of ammo.

Like... ECM? Or the two AMS boosting modules? Or the 3x AMS Kit Fox, 2x AMS Summoner, etc? Or the Radar Deprivation module? Or... cover?

Of course!

The second I was able to change my faction to what I originally wanted it to be, the seeds of my change of opinion were sown. Once I saw what the Timber Wolf was capable of, those seeds finally sprouted:

There is also:
-New ECM mech (which can also sport 3 AMS)
-1/2 ton AMS ammo making it easier to take AMS
-new AMS module allowing you to shoot down more missile
-Radar Deprivation module is very effective LRM counter
-AMS range module

If you really hate LRMs that much, just run those three modules together. Something you can do on just about every mastered mech w/ at least 3 module slots, 2 crit slots, and 1 ton of weight. :)

Oh my yes. Let's make sweeping judgements about balance <24 hours after the most significant change this game has ever experienced. Seems reasonable.

I think the volume will go down once people start trying other builds, heck people changing away from the standard Mad Cat Prime config will probably see a dramatic drop in Clan carrying LRMs...

Hi. Equip the radar deprivation module and enjoy a much-reduced LRM spam MWO existence.

Lolwut?

LRMs are pretty well balanced right now, except for ECM and Radar Deprivation module, which both really hurt LRMs and don't matter nearly as much for anything else. If anything, the RD module needs a nerf (make it eliminate the base decay timer, but allow the [Adv] Target Decay module still to add the listed time), and ECM has needed a complete rework since its introduction (move from a hard counter system to one of soft counters).

I simply don't care, I said ages ago that I could only garentee supporting this game until the clans arrived I got another year out of it and at the moment I think staying away is the sensible thing to do

Clans are great so far. My Wolverine, Stalker, Atlas, etc., love munching on them.

If anything LRMs need a buff to offset the instant lock loss module, perhaps bump them up to 210m/s?

Learn to use LRM, once you do, you will figure out how to avoid/not get shot up.

it requires both spatial and siturational awareness though:

IE: if you out in the open, all you can do is torso twist, or move perpendicular to direction of incoming fire to reduce the damage.

TBH: I am more annoyed by the poptarts with instant shot dmg than LRMs...

LRM.... unless they are close by, you know its coming.

I agree, it is about time to do something about LRMs. The number of counters has gotten out of hand, and it really needs to stop. The entire class of weapon shouldn't simply be useless in high-level play, and PGI needs to do something about this right now!

:)

Just slow clan LRMs down a bit. That's all they need.

Also, lets add more ghost heat to IS pulse lasers. That's all they need.

Oh hey!

New and exciting topic! Glad to see this kind of cutting edge stuff being posted!

There are so many counters to LRMs it's not even funny.

They did do something about LRMs. They overdid it at that.

It is called the "Radar Deprivation Module." Now a requirement on mechs.

I' don't see the problem, I don't have AMS on any of my mechs because if your playing smart its very rare you get lrmed to death anyway. The same way you can run around a corner and get wrecked for not looking first, it happens, but not often if your careful.
