Poor hand actuators. Maybe some day there will be a "grab the crate" mode where mechs without proper hand actuators are borderline useless apart from shooting the enemy team. Probably not though.

Ram is already in the game. But it is not impressive without "knock downs."
With knockdowns, it is a lot more impressive.
Knockdowns will come back after January 2015.
---------
Club, punch, kick might never happen.

Mechwarrior games have always been oriented about ranged combat, and never had melee attacks.
Also PGI said that they are not looking into melee attacks at the moment and categorized it under "maybe", so that is a no..
Knockdows and Death from Above are probably the only types of physical attack we will eventually get.

yes they have. They've even had mechs that specialize in it.
I still don'y like it, but it's not unprecedented at all.

I said Mechwarrior
Mechwarrior != Battletech
In the Battletech universe, mechs can kick, punch, use melee weapons etc, but in the Mechwarrior computer games those attacks have never made it to the gameplay, because those games are First person sims / shooters with the focus on ranged combat.

Mechwarrior, As a game franchise, has NEVER had melee, save for MekTek's MW4 Mercs Battlearmor having a "claw" attack that had an attack animation that looked like it was shooting a very, very short ranged gauss slug.
The Mechwarrior game franchise has NEVER had Melee combat, There's been ramming, but never punching/kicking/clubs/swords.
Now BATTLETECH on the other hand, the board game, yes it has melee, but it's never been ported in a way that works in Mechwarrior. and it's unlikely PGI would be able to even do it.

The smart person wouldn't sulk over being proved wrong, they'd say "Whoops, didn't realize that, thanks for pointing it out", and then leave it.
Regarding melee, I don't think it'll ever happen because it'd significantly change the MW formula, which would make a lot of people grumpy, but it'd sure be an interesting shake up that this game really needs.

I think he was referring to the computer games, not TT.
EDIT- dang, read a bit farther and people already pointed this out. Carry on..nothing to see here.

For those keeping score, please notice that MechWarrior is apocryphal, but MechWarrior is canon

And yes... its a First person sim, a sim of mechs who can give punches and kicks, short, medium and long range shoots... but never has been added in MW... I think if wasnt for technical limitations of the time...
